Purpose
The graded topics for this week are related to the following Course Outcome: (CO).
CO 1: Investigate the evidence-based sources that support professional nursing practice. (Number 7)
CO 2: Interpret the findings of published research studies using research principles. (Positions 4 and 8)
CO 5: Understand the significance of research findings in evidence-based practice. (Positions 7 and 8)
Discussion
Professional nurses use research findings to guide their practice decisions, and they employ critical thinking to apply research to specific patient care scenarios.
Consider a problem in independent nursing practice that you are passionate about and would like to investigate further.
The following issues should not be used:
*medical/doctor/physician issues, such as drug administration or side effects, diagnostics, such as EKGs, laboratories, and cardiac catheterizations
*Staffing, nurse-to-patient ratios, and workforce challenges are organizational, system, political, administrative, and multi-stakeholder issues that nursing cannot tackle on its own.
Describe an important nursing clinical issue, topic of interest, or practice difficulty to you. Explain why you choose the problem/topic you did.
For your nursing practice problem, write your clinical question in the PICO(T) format.
*
Use the NR439 Guide for Writing PICOT Questions and Examples available in your required reading or go to the following link to create your clinical question in the PICO(T) format:

(This is a link to another website.)
Make a list of all the PICOT elements you have.
Share why you’re concerned about this nursing practice issue and why you think collecting the best evidence will help you solve it.
