Proposal on adolescent health
Teenagers, being in their adolescent years face a lot of concerns daily as they go through a transitional critical period and at times the growth make it awkward. At this period, the adolescents go through some overwhelming internal and external struggles and included are health risk factors. Therefore, these years require more opportunities for prevention and interventions so as to support adolescents with a health growth and development. According to Bundy, Horton, Patton, Schultz & Jamison, (2018), adolescents and children have critical stages in their lives and development that require specific interventions. This proposal will identify the health problems and possible solutions and interventions to the problems facing adolescents.
Teenagers are usually expected to cope with social and parental forces together with a lot of pressures, changes in their hormones and puberty. With these I mind, they may be the factors that contribute to psychological disorders, stress and even depression. Moreover, they may be involved in behavioral risk factors such as drug and substance abuse, early sexual activities and poor dieting and even suicide. All these contribute further to other health issues such as addictions and complicated pregnancies, AIDS and STIs, obesity and other eating disorders among others which lead to chronic disorders and at times it ends up with early deaths. Remember, most of these disorders will accompany the teenager even into adulthood therefore affecting the present society as well as the future society. Therefore, the earlier the problems are solved the better for a safe and healthy society.
The first steps towards solving would be on encouraging and adults and especially those close to the teenagers in maintaining a good relationship with them. First, with a good relationship, the adolescents might freely communicate their feelings and get help before it is too late. Secondly, with a good relationship, an adult can identify any defaults in the adolescents for example change in their school grades or sleeping patterns. There are many advantages that come from good teenage-adult relationships. Moreover, since many adolescents are still in schools, that could be the right place to solve the various problems they are facing. It is very critical to have effective interventions and other facilitating factors that are school-based for a positive implementation in the health of adolescents (Xu, Tomokawa, Gregorio Jr, Mannava, Nagai & Sobel, (2020). Teenage programs and rallies should be encouraged in the society so as to help the teenagers with their transition and help them get through the different challenges they go through.
