2) In 200 to 250 words, conduct a basic SWOT analysis of an organization or department to which you belong. How do you see these factors affecting the direction of HR? Respond to at least two of your classmates’ posts by Day 7.
I don’t belong to any organization. So, I will explain some examples off of that. Some of the strengths would include, my kids are strong individuals who are not afraid to speak their mind. They know right from wrong as do all other kids, but they also know that no matter what happens I am available to take care of the situation. If I were seen as the HR manager I would be doing the same thing. I take care of problems and am an advocate for my kids (employees if you must). When they have a problem at school I am able to meet with the teachers or principal whenever is convenient for them. I don’t have to try and make time in my schedule from work to meet with them. My children will also have many opportunities like going to basketball practice even though it starts when most parents are getting out of work. This can be seen as an external factor since I am unable to control what time practice starts. I can’t think of any threats that they will have to deal with outside of my home (organization). “SWOT is an acronym that stands for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Strengths and weaknesses are internal to the organization, while opportunities and threats are external factors. The external focus of environmental scanning facilitates the analysis of those external opportunities and threats within the organization’s legal, economic, geographic, and social environments.” (Youssef, 2011).
