Description / paper instructions Dear writer, please provide two discussion replies( about 150 words each). You may use one reliable source for each of the replies. Please use discussion grading rubric criteria attached to reach the highest possible grade. No title page needed. here is the task for the Arab discussion: Arab Discussion Mrs. Nasser arrived at the urgent-care center with her 16-year-old daughter, who had been experiencing burning upon urination, itching around her genital area, and a high fever. Mrs. Nasser appeared very anxious, explaining to the nurse that her daughter had never had these symptoms before. The nurse tried to calm Mrs. Nasser and asked that her daughter, Samia, get undressed in preparation for a physical examination. Mrs. Nasser appeared concerned and requested that the nurse inform the doctor that she will not allow the doctor to perform a vaginal examination on her daughter. The nurse explained to Mrs. Nasser that it will be necessary for the doctor to examine Samia so that she can determine the cause of Samia’s discomfort. Mrs. Nasser became extremely agitated and explained to the nurse that in her culture, young girls are not allowed to have vaginal examination for fear that their virginity will be compromised. Mrs. Nasser insisted that she would not allow her daughter to be examined by the female doctor on duty. Mrs. Nasser requested that the nurse ask the doctor to write a prescription for her daughter’s infection, or else she would leave the clinic immediately. How should the nurse respond to Mrs. Nasser’s request? Explain your rationale. POST1 created by Jack: 1. I think the nurse should carefully address her words in a respectful tone and tell her that a female doctor, not a male doctor, would do the physical examination on her daughter. The mother must understand that if she wants to know what the cause of her daughter symptoms, then she must allow the doctor to see the genital area. The nurse must explain even though it may be wrong in there culture, it is necessary to do it so they can find out whats wrong. The nurse must use a kind and compassionate voice and most have sympathy for her feelings and culture. 2. Even though it might be against their religion, the nurse must convince the mother that the vaginal examination must be done. Other alternatives would be to conduct a urine or blood sample but that wouldn’t be the best way to find out what the problem is. The nurse must show negotiation and accommodation skills learned through the nursing theory taught while she was in school or during the nursing orientation at her place. She must convince the mother in a kind and respectful way to push for the vaginal examination. 3. Patient-centered care consideration is viewed as interrelated with both quality and safety. Patients look for care from skilled and proficient wellbeing experts to meet their physical and enthusiastic needs. Inside this system, the clinician’s suggestions and activities would be redone to the patient and educated by a comprehension of the patient’s needs, inclinations, information and beliefs, and whenever the situation allows, would improve the patient’s capacity to follow up on the data gave. It follows then that a viable clinician-tolerant organization would incorporate educated, shared dynamic and advancement of patient information and abilities required for self-administration of ceaseless conditions. The workplace where medical attendants give care to patients can decide the quality and security of patient care. As the biggest social insurance workforce, medical attendants apply their insight, abilities, and experience to think about the different and changing needs of patients. An enormous piece of the requests of patient consideration is focused on crafted by medical attendants. At the point when care misses the mark regarding guidelines, regardless of whether as a result of asset designation or absence of proper arrangements and measures, medical caretakers shoulder a great part of the obligation. This mirrors the kept misconception of the more prominent impacts of the various, complex human services frameworks and the workplace factors. Understanding the multifaceted nature of the workplace and taking part in methodologies to improve its belongings is central to better, more secure consideration. High-unwavering quality associations that have societies of security and gain by proof based practice offer ideal working conditions to medical caretakers and are devoted to improving the well being and nature of care. The nurse can ask t the mother if everything she needed was taken care of and if she had any questions. She can also ask Samia if everything is okay and if she had any other symptoms that wanted to share. POST 2 created by Camille-Kae: One of the most important things the nurse should do is to maintain professionalism and respectfulness. There has been research seeing that professionalism, level of knowledge, and personal skills can overshadow gender in an Arab women’s decision of which provider to choose (Amir et. al, 2012; Rizk et. al, 2005). Mrs. Nasser’s reaction must have been the initial reaction and Mrs. Nasser should be given time to calm down and talk with her daughter. After Mrs. Nasser has calmed down, a female nurse and the female doctor, preferably one of the same culture as Mrs. Nasser and Samia, should explain and stress the importance of the exam and explain what happens during an exam. The conversation should be done privately and in an environment that is accepting and open and enables Mrs. Nasser and Samia to ask questions freely. The nurse and doctor should explain that the infection could be anything and a vaginal exam is the only way for them to prescribe the correct antibiotics. The complications of an untreated infection should be explained in great detail and how a wrong antibiotic prescribed can cause more harm than good. 2. Identify culturally congruent strategies that may be most effective in addressing the needs of Mrs. Nasser. In addressing the needs for Mrs. Nasser, the inclusion of Mrs. Nasser in medical decisions, the use of a female doctor and nurse, the use of a private room, and the use of an interpreter would all be culturally congruent strategies that may prove to be effective. The family system, rather than the individual, is the core community in Arab culture; therefore, including Mrs. Nasser in the medical decisions and allowing her to stay in the room with her daughter during the examination would be providing culturally sensitive care (Rassool, 2015). Arab women prefer women healthcare providers, so the hospital should strive to provide Samia with only female healthcare workers to care for them (Hammoud, White, & Fetters, 2005). Arab women value modesty and privacy, so, if permitting, a private room should be given to Samia. Furthermore, a note should be placed outside the door stating that healthcare workers should knock first and wait for a response before coming in to allow Samia and her mother to cover up if need be (Hammoud, White, & Fetters, 2005). Lastly, though it is evident that Mrs. Nasser is able to communicate in English, if she is more comfortable talking in Arabic, a female interpreter should be sought out (Kulwicki, 2013). 3. How might the nurse ensure that Mrs. Nasser’s concerns are addressed appropriately and that Samia has received the appropriate care? Based on Samia’s symptoms, it seems that a vaginal examination is warranted. Through the use of culturally competent and open communication between the healthcare provider, Mrs. Nasser, and Samia, the explanation of the importance of the vaginal examination should be stressed. It should be clarified to Mrs. Nasser that the vaginal examination does not compromise Samia’s virginity. Mrs. Nasser should also be permitted to stay in the room during the exam, if Samia is comfortable. One must not forget that Samia is, ultimately, the patient and not her mother. Therefore, if something concerning is seen during the vaginal examination, such as a sexually transmitted infection or concerns for abuse, Samia should be questioned privately in order to get a complete and accurate history.
