As a consultant, you need to develop an in-depth analysis and evaluation of the
selected agency’s planning, organizational design, decision-making process, and
implementation, and then provide recommendations for improvement.
Therefore, you will conduct interviews with agency representatives and research related
academic sources, the agency’s website, or any government website. The analysis will
be read by the VP of accounts and client support, as well as by the leaders of the
agency for whom you are working.
Assignment Instructions
Write a 5–7-page paper in which you:
Describe the history of the selected agency and department by explaining its reasons
(goals and objectives) for being established. Title this section History of [Selected
Agency].
Analyze the organizational design of the selected agency and specific department by
describing the design and organizational chart. Assess its effectiveness in making major
policy decisions and providing services to its primary recipients. Title this
section Organizational Design.
Include a figure of the current organizational design within the text of the paper.
Recommend a redesign of the agency’s structure to better serve the needs of the
department’s businesses without jeopardizing the goals and objectives of the agency.
Explain your reasoning for changing the design, and explain the change’s impact on the
agency’s effectiveness in delivering quality services. Title this section Assessment of
Organizational Design.
Include a figure of the new organizational design within the text of the paper.
Analyze 2–3 major milestones, factors (internal or external), or actors affecting the
agency’s success and their influence on the effectiveness of the agency’s planning,
organizational design, decision making, and implementation.
Also, analyze 2–3 possible causes (internal or external) that appear to have the effect of
impeding the organization’s implementation of its policy and meeting its goals and

Introduction
The Federal Drug Administration is one of the federal agencies in the United States
Department of Health and Human Services. The agency was founded in 1906 under the
administration of President Theodore Roosevelt. The agency has its headquarters in
White Oak Campus, New Hampshire Avenue. Silver Spring, Maryland.
The primary responsibility of the agency is to promote the safety of “food, tobacco
products, dietary supplements, prescription and over-the-counter pharmaceutical drugs
(medications), vaccines, biopharmaceuticals, blood transfusions, medical devices,
electromagnetic radiation emitting devices (ERED), cosmetics, animal foods & feed and
veterinary products.”
Mission
“The Food and Drug Administration is responsible for protecting the public health by
ensuring the safety, efficacy, and security of human and veterinary drugs, biological
products, and medical devices; and by ensuring the safety of our nation's food supply,
cosmetics, and products that emit radiation” (FDA, 2020).

Functions of the Agency
The Federal Drug Administration is one of the most important agencies since it is at the
heart of the country’s health systems. Firstly, this agency has the function of making
sure that the drugs that are being manufactured by the country’s medicines are safe.
Since most drugs are developed by private enterprises, it is necessary for the
government to make sure the drugs that they manufacture will not hurt the public.
Another important function of this organization is to regulate tobacco use. This
organization is responsible for making sure that it regulates the production and
marketing of tobacco in a manner that protects the public (Carpenter, 2014).
It is also the responsibility of the organization to make sure that it encourages
innovation in the field of healthcare. The agency also plays an important role in making
sure that there is food security in the United States by making sure that there is a
steady and consistent supply.
Current Events
One of the current events concerning the organization is the coronavirus pandemic. The
pandemic is s global crisis that has brought the world to a stop. In the face of these
challenges, many organizations are coming up with medications and vaccines to
address the virus. It is the responsibility of the organization to make sure that these
medications and vaccines that are being developed meet the desired quality standards
(Prompetchara et al., 2020).
The second event that concerns the agency is the surge in the number of counterfeit
drugs in the market. There are reports that there are many medications that have
sneaked into the market without going through the regulatory tests (Blackstone et al.,
2014). There is a need to find the mechanisms through which the organization may
prevent the entry of untested drugs into the market.
Rationale
The primary reason for settling on this organization is related to the purpose of the
organization in the management of the present pandemic. The Federal Drug
Administration is responsible for making sure that there are drugs that may be used to
safely address the pandemic.
At this time, the agency is required to put its best foot forward and make sure that there
are adequate measures to test the safety of emerging COVID-19 drugs. The second
reason for the selection of this agency is its role in protecting Americans from the drugs
that are being brought into the market illegally.

The reflective essay provides you an opportunity to select and assess the work you’ve
done this semester and relate it to the course learning outcomes.
The reflective essay must respond to the following:
What have you learned this semester (in relation to the learning outcomes on the
syllabus) and why and how do the pieces of evidence you’ve chosen demonstrate that?
What did you do or not do that helped or hindered your learning during the semester?
How do you think you will use what you’ve learned in the future?
In the reflective essay, your task is to demonstrate which of the learning outcomes for
the course you have achieved. You demonstrate this achievement by writing a well-
formed essay that cites evidence from your coursework (you must include at least one
performance response and one discussion posting as pieces of evidence; other
evidence can be from other posting, module exercises, your other short response,
quizzes, and so on).
Remember: you must use the evidence to support your argument. Do not just say, “You
can see I have achieved learning outcome number 1 by looking at my first performance
response.” You have to say something like, “You can see from performance response 1,
where I say this that and the other thing, that I demonstrate my achievement of learning
outcome number
1.” You can also demonstrate your achievement of a learning outcome by explaining

The play starts in the setting of a cross-country train. A young serviceman in uniform
approaches a lady seated on the train and reading a book. The following analysis
examines the use of production elements in the play. Skillful use of production element
had direct impacts to the acceptability of a play by the audience.
A common production element that is evident throughout the play is lighting. As it
begins, we are introduced into a dingily lit train, which is almost dark. It shifts slowly into
a scene that is sufficiently lit when the Raleigh approaches and sits beside May. This
variation in lighting is creating a scene inside a train.
Later concentrates on the conversation between the two by increasing the light to
introduce the actors to the audience. The light keeps changing throughout the play,
which I think is a technique of making the audience remain engaged and demonstrating
a change in the atmosphere of the scene.
It is also an ideal technique of diversity in the lighting of the show, although, at times, it
was irrelevant. An example is the use of bluish light, which makes the scenes lose their
natural appeal. Before the train arrives at its destination, there is complete darkness.
The darkness again fades away and ushers in May in another scene, now waiting to sit
on a bench. The episode gives a dramatic experience as the audience wait to see what
will happen next.
The play starts with the sound of a train riding over a rail and bells ringing from afar.
This is an ideal introduction of the play to sensitize the audience in its setting. It is on a
train, which is also the theme of the play. Raleigh and Ray are traveling to Chicago from
California (Farmer, 2016).
Besides, it is overcrowded and, therefore, it is a pleasure for Raleigh to find a seat next
to Ray, which forms the first human sound. Immediately after the two starts talking, the
sound of the train together with the hooting fades away.
This allows the audience to concentrate on the conversation. The sound of the train re-
appears again and disappears in darkness. The next sound is that of singing birds,
which introduces the audience to an entirely new environment. May has alighted, and
she seems to be thinking about the new course of action.
The costume of the actors in the drama is suggestive. Raleigh is introduced in a light
green coat suit and a tie. The clothes have a badge of service people, which
demonstrates to the audience that he works with security agencies. Ray, on the other
hand, is introduced in a trench coat that depicts her as a simple lady who is on a
journey.
As she alights the train, Ray is in a pinkish dress, a belt and a pair of gloves. She is also
carrying a handbag as an indication that she is in transit. The costume is an indication
of a new scene in the play, which is significant in allowing the audience to follow the
drama as it unfolds.
The set design of the film varies from one scene to another. For example, the first scene
is on a crowded train, which is specifically made to demonstrate that Raleigh and Ray
are on a journey. In another scene, two are outside a building.
The variation in the set design is purposely made to create a new environment for the
actors to interact. It also gives the audience more information on the concepts of the
director. However, I think this technique has been ignored because the play has very
few set designs that make it monotonous.
A notable prop in the play is the book that Ray is reading as the drama begins. It is
attracting her attention and allowing her to fight loneliness since she is sitting alone on
the train. Another sufficiently used prop is a chair. It runs almost throughout the play,
which is being used by Ray and Raleigh. The props are used to convey the place and
time when the acting is taking place.
The book has contributed to the development of acting since it gives the two actors a
common ground for discussing their experiences. The chair supports the actors in
playing their roles better. For example, Ray leaves the sit and faces away when she is
frustrated.
The production of the Last Train to Nibroc has skillfully incorporated production
elements that make the play appealing to the audience. Among the elements are
sounds, light variation, and props that enhance the acting of the characters. Future
production should incorporate more props and set design to further improve the
experience of the audience.
