The Best Holiday of My Life Paper
Best, Holiday, Life, Paper
I am from Brazil, and as you all must know, we love to party. There is a very important and famous holiday called Carnaval. That is the time of the year when people wear costume, play around throwing confetti at each other and dancing carnival songs. Some states celebrate it for a week and others, believe it or not, for almost a month. When I was younger, I used to go to the beach with my family every year to celebrate it at my extended family’s house. It was so fun! Me, my siblings and cousins together always had a great time.
Brazil is the biggest country in South America so the weather can be very different. Like during the winter, it gets cold in the Southeast, Central West and South, but it is still very hot in the North and Northeast, which is the region I live at. The weather is crazy there. Rain is more common during the summer in the Northeast and North because of humid. This year snowed in the South and the scientists consider that a rare phenomenon.
Because the north of Brazil is nice most of the year, a lot of families spend their holidays or vocations there. And that is why I met one of my best friends. His family lives in Santa Catarina, a state in South, and they decided to visit my state on the Carnaval holiday. The hotel that him and his family stayed was a couple miles from my family’s house.
That year was for sure super special for all of us. Nowadays, if I close my eyes, I can remember exactly everything that happened on those days. I was six years old and I loved playing with my dolls. It was Tuesday and family and I were all getting ready to leave the house going to the beach. My mom as usual packed all our stuff, but this time she was bringing a box with her. I was curious to know what it was in the box, but she would not tell me. My sister was also very curious to know about it and kept asking my mom, but still she did not tell us what it was.
2- LAYLA’s First Draft
My name is layla I was born and raised in Morocco. I come from a practicing Muslim family, Islam has always been part of my daily life, the celebrations of religious feasts are very common in Morocco like Ramadan
Ramadan is a very important month for us the Muslims , it’s the ninth month of Muslim year when we do not eat or drink between the rising and setting of the sun . Celebrating Ramadan is a way to honor Muhammad our Prophet , and develop more self-control.
One week before Ramadan , my family and I start the preparations, we start by buying the most consumed foods during this holy month such as milk, dates, vegetables, fruits and also dairy products , also buy djellaba and descent dresses, during this holy month you should neither speak badly about people nor say bad words avoid putting on perfume and make-up, and try to put on respectful clothes.
This holy month might seem difficult but it’s not because it’s just a mindset that you need to adopt everything happens in your head . After waking up in the morning we start prepare meals for the evening . After the sunset and the prayer call we can break our fasting by eating a date and drink a glass of water then pray before returning back to enjoy our meal with the entire family .
For the tour meal we eat some Moroccan dishes like Briouate or Msemen and chebakia , and also the most important dish is the soup that is also called Harira , is basically a tomato based soup with some meat and chickpeas and a lots of more ingredient . Although harira is prepared year-round Moroccans consider a meal incomplete if harira isn’t on the table .
Every Friday , my family and I try to be on time for the ftor in my grandma’s , every member of the family brings a dish that he prepared with love for that special day to be enjoyed with all of us .
Ftour is a really important part of Ramadan where the whole family get together and have fun eating together and being with your loved ones .
