Project title The Effectiveness of Total Quality Management Principles in DP World
Stages in-group work
Stage 1 – Planning and preparation Progress /date: February 19, 2019 This is the stage when your group should plan exactly what needs to be done, how it needs to be done, and who should do what.
Report on the following :
Did you agree on the best way of achieving these tasks by dividing areas of responsibility amongst the group, making sure that roles and time commitments are as evenly balanced as possible;
Did you agree on the different elements of the task (background research, written text, an overall design, graphs and images, final assembly and so on);
Did you divide the tasks up according to the skills of different group members; make an action plan of what needs to be done by who and when, working towards the final deadline.
Firstly, our group consists of six members, and Ahmad Nasser is the group leader. We have selected DP World to assess and analyze the effectiveness of TQM principals in the company, as we have distributed the tasks between us. Ahmad is going to gather all the tasks from the members after they’re done and work on the format of the report and PowerPoint presentation. Sultan are going to check the grammar and spelling errors before submitting the report.
We decided to finish the report in week 11, so there will be enough time to work on the PowerPoint (VIVA).
We have distributed the tasks as the following:
Hassan: Abstract (Purpose of the project) + Introduction (About TQM, thesis statement and what the case will include) + Conclusion & Recommendations.
Mohammad: Literature Review – Background (About the company, nature of the company, vision, mission)
Sultan: Organizational structure
Presentation of TQM – Ahmad: Paragraph analyzing TQM & 3 points of TQM principals in the company.
4 points of TQM principals in the company + supply chain.
Yasar: Measurement system of the company (product quality)
Soud: Six Sigma of the company.
Stage 2 – Implementation Progress report Whilst your group carries out its tasks, you will need to preserve your group’s sense of purpose. Effective communication is vital, particularly when your group activity extends over time.
Is the action plan being implemented towards the final deadline?
Stage 3 – Completion Progress Report Planning effective oral presentations
If you are making a group presentation, make sure that this is written and rehearsed as a group.
Share opportunities for speaking rather than making one person do all the work (unless there are too many people in your group or there just is not enough time).
Change speakers in strategic places, using the different voices to structure your presentation (e.g. one person could take the introduction, another the main discussion, a third the conclusions).
Finally, use effective linking statements to announce the handover from one speaker to another
Writing a group report Did you divide responsibility for drafting sections between the different members of your group?
Who will take overall responsibility for pulling the final piece together?
Do you follow the approved guidelines in the course?
Preparing for your viva If you have been asked to discuss your group’s performance in a viva make sure that you meet to plan for this activity in the same way you planned your other work.
Allocate roles, time management and tasks.
Remember to talk about your group’s performance as a group rather than discussing the performance of individual group members.
