Scheduling New Employee Training Program Essay
New employee training varies from one company to another because of the areas of specification and activities in which a company is involved. Therefore, even the type of training for each group of employees varies.
Virtual employees are those employees that work for either a company while they are at home or a distance from the physical location of the company. Employee training programs do vary with the type of employees. This means that the type of training programs done to virtual employees is not the same as those employees who are on the physical location of the company.
Scheduling new employee training program for virtual employees such as face-to-face teambuilding meetings prior to virtual team launch, will help the company to set up team uniqueness that is good for the company. This will also determine whether the employees are capable of carrying out their responsibilities as expected. It also involves creating tasks for the members including coming up with team norms that will help in improving the company to achieve its goals. This training program assists the members of the virtual team and the company to have full trust on the team and believe that they can make it in achieving the company’s goals.
Another training module involves understanding virtual team skills and technology. This program involves helping the employees to understand the importance and use of groupware. The team members have to understand the use and importance of teleconferencing and videoconferencing. This will be an important tool for the virtual group since this is the only way they can communicate to every member of the group. The members have to learn the importance of communication between themselves and to others people that they have to interact with. They have to understand the following communication skills in order for them to achieve their goals as a team. They are electronic good manners, cultural knowledge, think electronically and making decisions.
Team organization is another important program that virtual employees need training on. It involves activities like meeting logistics such as coordinating schedules, and coming up with agendas for the meetings. Definition of responsibilities of each member of the team is important to avoid overlapping of responsibilities or failure to carry out responsibilities because nobody is held accountable. This type of employee training also involves resolving disputes that occur among themselves in a calm manner. It is also important to train virtual employees on how to carry out assessment process and evolution so that they can influence the company in a positive way that will help in realization of the company’s main goals (Snell & Bohlander, 2013. pg 45). Those employees on the company’s physical location also do need training. One of the first training programs that they need is orientation. It is important to carry out orientation to new employees so that they can have a comprehensive understanding of the company, their position in the company and also their roles and duties so that they do not face difficulties and lead to down fall of the company..
