RE-WRITE !!! ETHICAL DECISION MAKING IN COUNSELING EDUCATION (Need ASAP!! — Within 12 Hours!!!I Have Uploaded It And The Resources Needed)
For this assignment, you will apply an ethical decision making model to two challenging teaching scenarios and evaluate the role of gatekeeping and consultation for the profession.Part 1
Complete these requirements for both cases:
Case analysis: Provide an analysis of the case using information from the scenario then hypothesize about additional context for the learner’s behavior.
Action plan development: Develop a plan of action in managing the challenging dilemma, from an educator’s perspective, by applying an ethical ethical decision making model of your choice, the ACA ethical code, and current literature in counselor education.
Learner Case 1A learner in an online Social and Cultural Diversity course includes comments in discussions and peer responses about the GLBT population such as “People can choose what they want to be, just as I can choose the clients I am able to help in counseling.” The learner states in another posting that “I do not judge anyone just as the Bible doesn’t.” The learner also says, “If I had a client who said she was a lesbian I can work with her on all of her other issues.” Out of curiosity you do a search on the web for the learner and find social media postings that promote religious organizations that support Conversion Therapy.
Learner Case 2
A learner in a face-to-face counseling course is having difficulty demonstrating foundational counseling skills such as conveying empathy and attending non-verbally with the client in classroom role-plays. The learner has difficultly tracking the content of the client’s narrative and responds with comments that are out of context and often include self-disclosure. For example the client was talking about experiences with depression symptoms and the learner, while in the counselor role, responded by saying that she completely understood and that medications have helped her in the past and recommended that the client get on medication.
The learner also would look around the room seemingly unable to make eye contact and move excessively around in her chair while the student client was sharing her emotional story. Outside of the role-plays the learner isolated herself with minimal engagement with other learners. In class discussions she usually self-disclosed and focused her comments on her life and her hardships.
Part 2
Provide a general analysis of the following:
Role of gatekeeping: Examine the role of gatekeeping as an instructor and associated best practices citing the literature in the counselor education profession.
Role of consultation: Evaluate the role of consultation and mentoring in counselor education as it pertains to gatekeeping. Use the current literature on gatekeeping, consultation, and mentoring to support your discussion.
