1) Explain what CAM is.
Complementary and alternative medicine is referred to as CAM. CAM encompasses a wide range of therapies and treatments for the prevention and treatment of illness and disease. These techniques are not commonly taught in medical schools or used by Western doctors. Various practices employ natural methods or substances to aid the body’s healing or maintenance of balance. A person’s mind, body, and spirit are all factored into the healing equation. (Falvo, 2004, pp.210-211)
Examples of critical thinking:
Chiropractic, homeopathy, naturopathy, yoga, meditation, and energy fields are just a few of the CAM therapies. I had a diabetic patient who also had nutritional work done by a chiropractor, which helped him control his blood sugar.
