Answer each of the prompts with three paragraphs by the mid-week deadline, using concepts and sources from the text or your own research.
QUESTIONS
The constant tone throughout this course, as it relates to functioning in any form of public relations communications role, is that public facing press personnel MUST have a place at the management table. They must act as the organization’s eyes and ears, which entails more than simply comprehending the organization’s mission. They must be aware of the hierarchy, culture, and day-to-day priorities and challenges, as they are “The Ringmaster,” as Mergel puts it. This is a fast-paced, dynamic, and at times difficult function, depending on when and how you communicate, as well as how much knowledge and information you have as a press contact OR how much information you gather for your public-facing management colleagues speaking directly on an issue. If you work for an agency, an issue could develop at any time, and you’ll need to become an expert to start your pitch. Furthermore, it is not always necessary to be defensive; you may utilize social media or news releases to promote your organization’s objective. This also applies to politics, particularly if you’re working on behalf of a candidate or government official. You must be aware of your target audience as well as your medium. With that in mind, choose a “hot topic” in government and describe how YOU would approach this “assigned” topic, using the social media criteria in Chapter 6 (questions to utilize in establishing an effective social media plan). Choose a PASSIONATE subject or a topic/field in which you could envision yourself working in the future.

Elements of the required response may also be lacking. 40 points out of 50: The essay illustrates solid understanding of the relevant material by correctly addressing most of the relevant content; identifying and explaining most of the key concepts/ideas; using correct terminology; explaining the reasoning behind most of the key points/claims; and/or where necessary or useful, substantiating some points with accurate examples. The answer is complete. 50 points: The essay illustrates exemplary understanding of the relevant material by thoroughly and correctly addressing the relevant content; identifying and explaining all of the key concepts/ideas; using correct terminology explaining the reasoning behind key points/claims and substantiating, as necessary/useful, points with several accurate and illuminating examples. No aspects of the required answer are missing. Use of Sources (worth a maximum of 20% of the total points). Zero points: Student failed to include citations and/or references. The paper omits significant structural elements required for and APA 6th edition paper. Formatting of the paper has major flaws.
