This film evokes various feelings, both as a nurse and as a moral person. Most of us have entered / will join the nursing profession in response to a call to look after our fellow people. For many of us, with an eager devotion, we believe that nursing is not just what we are, but who we are. We are guided by a moral compass based on knowledge of the right from the wrong and of the good from the bad.
Although we cannot comprehend how nurses at concentration camps could be complicit in their role as “doers” of euthanasia, it is curious how many of them believed murder was a valid part of their caring job. These ideas raise many problems, for which the solutions reflect your own systems of beliefs and values. Answer the following in your post forum:Do you think these nurses were complicit from the beginning or were they engaged over time slowly, until it was easier to cross the line? How might a sense of power overcome their moral judgment once they crossed the line?
They were perhaps taught to feel that the health of the general population is more important than the health of the individual; but how can they justify their actions to benefit the many?
