Description/Paper Instructions
Select just one topic.
Anselm and Kant, orDescartes and Hobbes. You will have to both provide Anselm’s or Descartes’ argument and critique Kant or Hobbes.
Determine how the interaction plays out. Does the critic’s argument meet the standards of sound philosophical thought? At this point, you should have a vague concept of what it signifies. You’re in big trouble if you don’t do it.
Based on your assessment, do you think that Kant and Descartes should have believed in God’s existence? Show why your response is correct. For the rest of us, what does your answer mean? Is it fair to say that everyone has the right to believe in God?
You may expand your essay to up to five pages, but it will be a 4 to 5 page paper. Support your claims with the text. To write the paper is to imagine it was a college assignment. For a list of guidelines, please refer to the rubric.
Suppose someone were to advocate skepticism in the manner of this: Each person has their own ideas. There is no agreement over whether the world is as old as scientists claim, whether life exists on other planets, and whether or not the famous ‘Bigfoot’ myth is based in fact. Thus, there is no factual basis for the age of the globe, or for whether life exists elsewhere in the universe, or for the existence of Bigfoot.
Evaluate the strength of this argument by consulting relevant readings. Make sure your answers are relevant. This argument in favor of skepticism is sound, isn’t it? This is how your view on that last question is likely to impact your belief in skepticism, such as my argument. Are we to establish views on the basis of rational reasoning such as this?

Let’s suppose someone wants to argue that we should believe in God in the same way as follows: Every proposition can be one of two things: true or untrue. Since there is a 50% possibility that any statement is true, it follows that the probability of something is 100%. “God exists” is at least a 50% chance of being correct. In the context of belief in God, if there is a 50% chance that God exists, then it is logical to believe that he does. God does indeed exist, and that’s why we should believe in him.
Here is an argument that you can include in your paper. And, provide an assessment of whether it measures up to the philosophical principles. If you assert anything is the case, be prepared to support your claim. If you say it does not, provide evidence for your claim.
