Personal Brand Assignment
Target Market:
The market that I am interested in continuing my career is the financial market. I have spent the last 10 years working in finance. My career began in 1987 working as an administrative assistant in an import and export company in London. Since that time, I have worked in a lot of different industries including finance, banking, paper industry and non-profit, however, it has led me back to the finance industry. When I moved to Texas in 2010, I took on the role of Senior Administrative Assistant in a financial Counseling company for high-net worth executives, but in Feb 2019, I began a new role working for a company called Trintech as an Executive Assistant in financial software. This is where I would like to advance my career a little further, possibly in Product Management or Marketing.
One of the main reasons why I chose to move to Trintech is the opportunities that they had to offer. They are a mid-sized company with about 450 employees with global offices in Europe and APAC. They are based in Addison and I really like the location. Internal promotions and movement through different departments happens often. If someone sees an opportunity to move up or to change positions, and if they feel there is a fit, then the company is very supportive of this. They offer multiple training sessions and resources for employees to be very successful. I did not have this at my previous employer and that is why I made the decision to change jobs.

Price:
The salary for Administrative Professionals can differ greatly depending on the industry, who you would be supporting, and experience. I did some research and found the following statistics on Glassdoor:
The average Executive Assistant in the Dallas area as posted on February 25, 2020 is $46,061. That is 6% below the national average. My salary is $63,000 so I feel that I made a very good transition from my previous job where I only made $51,000. There are some Executive Assistant jobs that are above $73,000.
Since I am possibly looking to obtain a management position within Trintech possibly in Marketing or Product Management, I decided to research different salaries, and this is what I found:
Marketing Managers can earn anywhere between $75,000 and $150,000. That is quite a jump in salary. Product Managers are even higher where a starting salary can be around $97,000.
Additionally, every position that I looked at offered the usual benefits of 401k, medical, vision and dental benefits, and cash bonuses.
Place:
The majority my job searching has been online and by using sites like Glassdoor and LinkedIn, however, my current job and previous job were a little different in the terms of how I was hired. In my previous position, I was contacted by an employment agency after I posted my resume online. I went for the interview and was contacted the following day with an offer. With my current job, the company contacted me for an interview after seeing my resume posted on Indeed.com. Geographically, I do not mind commuting so Dallas, Plano, Richardson, etc. is fine for me.
Since I am very happy to stay in the Dallas area (and Texas for that matter), I do not see myself ever taking a position in another state. If it was a promotional move that really advanced my career and that had a substantial pay raise, then I may consider it, depending on where it would be and what benefits it entailed.
