Week 10: Designing Lessons for Digital Environments
Online or digital learning experiences may be synchronous, asynchronous, hybrid, fully online, based on content consumption, or based on content creation. They may rely on discussion forums or wikis for learner collaboration, or they may have open chats and webinars for learners to attend. Some educators record a lot of their own video content, while others rely on existing content. There is so much variety in digital learning environments that it is important to consider your learning objectives before choosing an instructional method or tool for online learning. This week, you will consider how to translate one of the lesson plans you developed for a face-to-face environment to a digital space.
Learning Objectives
Students will:Develop asynchronous, online, media-based, or virtual learning experiences from the adaptation of classroom or face-to-face lessons
Justify adaptation of a classroom or face-to-face lesson to an asynchronous, online, media-based, or virtual learning environment

Assignment: Adapting Existing Lessons for Digital Spaces
Digital learning has transformed education. Technology allows people to connect across the globe and share knowledge and resources. Students in different geographic locations can interact and learn from one another while being educated by a subject matter expert in another location. More and more educational and healthcare institutions are pursuing online experiences to reach more students, staff members, and patients/caregivers.If you were to revise and repackage a lesson for a digital learning environment, how would you translate your lecture materials? How would you adapt the group work your learners do? Transferring in-person lessons to online spaces requires thoughtful—and often novel—changes rather than just a wholesale copy and paste of all the elements.

Download the PowerPoint Template from the Learning Resources to use for this Assignment.
The AssignmentImagine that your workplace has chosen to adapt face-to-face instruction for digital spaces. You have been asked to present an example to colleagues of how to transition instruction to this new format.
Develop an 8- to 10-slide voiceover PowerPoint presentation that includes the following:
Identify the learning objective.
Explain how you will adapt your teaching strategy for the digital environment. Use the Learning Resources and/or best available evidence from current literature to support your explanation.
Explain how the learning objective will be assessed/evaluated. Use the Learning Resources and/or best available evidence from current literature to support your explanation.
Describe the technology being used.
Justify your adaptation. How do your changes maximize the benefits of the online, asynchronous, media-based, or virtual environment? Use the Learning Resources and/or best available evidence from current literature to support your justification.
