Aging aircraft undergo various challenges. Corrosion, for instance, is a major concern for aging aircraft (Lincoln, 2003). Corrosion detection mechanisms, therefore, should be more efficient as the corrosion detection tests normally cost the US government over $800 million annually (Lincoln, 2003).
This article is useful in analyzing aging aircraft and developing suitable mechanisms to facilitate corrosion detection. The overall impact is to enhance aircraft safety.
