Individual Assessment of Marketing Material
Description
You are the CEO of Business United a private college based in London. Due to COVID-19 all lectures are currently online, and the teaching staff and students are adapting to this new way of learning.
There has been some negative feedback from students, and you want to create a leaflet to send to all teachers to help them improve the e-learning experience for students. The leaflets will outline the students’ concerns and provide practical suggestions on how to overcome these.
Some problems that have been identified are as follows:
1. Technical barriers – poor Wi-Fi means that students often miss parts of the lesson and do not know what is going on. Also, because many of the teachers are using old laptops often the computers take a long time to load new pages.
2. Emotional barriers – the students miss having the chance to interact with their peers and get bored listening to the teacher for long periods of time. They also feel isolated studying from home and feel demotivated not having one-on-one time with the teacher.
3. Physical barriers – the students get uncomfortable sitting looking at the screen for long periods and some students have been getting headaches.
4. Noise barriers – some students constantly interrupt the Zoom lecture, and this makes it difficult to focus. Also a lot of time is wasted on irrelevant material rather than on the course work.
5. Cultural barriers – students miss not being able to communicate with students in their own language. Some travelled to England just before lockdown and now feel very homesick.
TASK
Prepare a two-page leaflet and separate accompanying notes to support the ideas on the leaflet. The leaflet should provide images and text relevant to the issues at Business United. The accompanying notes should be a separate section and not exceed 500 words. Please provide references.
In your leaflet and notes, you should highlight:
· Common challenges and barriers to effective communication
· Effective strategies for overcoming communication barriers
· The importance of cultural awareness
