Improving Organizational Culture Research Essay
Improving, Organizational, Culture, Research, Essay
Sephora’s Culture
Sephora is a worldwide beauty product department store. Employees at Sephora are actively involved in reviewing the organization’s performance. They provide opinions and give executives and managers ratings on their performances. For instance, employees at the company are required to give a rating to the leaders of the company and identify areas where the company can improve.
Sephora’s Culture
Employees at the company feel satisfied with the company’s compensation package which is a combination of salary, equality, comprehensive medical and other benefits. The interaction of teams at the company is effective in which coworkers actively participate within their teams and with other employees outside their team.
Assessed at through workplace environment, majority of employees at the company feel that the company has provided a positive environment.
The change management plan
A change management plan helps in budgeting, scheduling, communication and resources control, thus, minimizing adverse impacts on the business, employees, stakeholders and customers of the organization (Boff & Cardwell, 2019). In order to bring about cultural change, I would do the following:
Creating agency- All employees shall be involved, to some degree, in running key activities of the company
Strong relationships between employees and members of the executive shall be developed
The change management plan
Ideas and opinions for change from employees shall be welcomed, as seen from values and the vision
Sephora’s vision will be communicated frequently Sephora’s employees will be involved in change processes and communications shall be affected by creation of communication apps and trainings.
Early outcomes from the desired change will be an enabling workplace environment
There shall be efforts to continue the adopted culture
The adopted culture shall be rooted to integrity and commitments for serving clients and pursuing Sephora/LVMH’s stakeholder’s interests.
LVMH (Louis Vuitton-Moet Hennessey is the parent company of Sephora)
Outcomes from the proposed change
An effective leadership would be realized from creation of agency in the organization because employees working at different aspects of the organization shall participate in running the organization. Who better to know the ins and the outs of Sephora than the employees.
Strong collaborations would be the immediate outcomes pointed to increased communication and development of relationships. Innovations are also inevitable desirable outcomes, and collection of ideas and opinions would make Sephora stand a high chance of attaining these outcomes.
Outcomes from the proposed change
According to Yip et al. (2018), effective communication in organization plays critical role in helping organizations to become competitive because customers look for organizations in which they can have unlimited communication. Improved performance and attaining a competitive edge are also other desired outcomes for the proposed change.
Analyzing the alignment with the proposed change
This is in alignment with the proposed change in that the propose change requires to adopt a culture rooted to integrity and commitments for serving clients and pursuing Sephora’s stakeholder’s interests.
Sephora’s mission statement is “we believe beauty is for each person to define and ours to celebrate. Together, we support and encourage bold choices in beauty—and in life. Our purpose is to inspire fearlessness.”
Sephora’s mission outlines all the critical activities that it implements especially for its customers. From this statement, good performance, empowering employees and its staff, customer service, enhancing shareholders’ interests and employee satisfaction can be identified as goals.
Analyzing the alignment with the proposed change
Sephora’s vision is to be the preferred choice for beauty while maximizing shareholder interest at the same. There is an alignment with the proposed change in that, ideas and opinions shall be welcomed and evaluated based on this vision.
Additionally, becoming the preferred choice means gaining a competitive edge for the company, and is included in the new proposal. Incorporation of emphasis on shareholder interest forms the best alignment because the proposed culture is partly rooted to serving shareholders’ interests.
