? Interpret the Evidence. Historical thinking requires corroboration of the evidence; we must consult varied sources from differing points of view in order to piece together multiple experiences of past events and interpret the historical significance You are NOT required to refer to all of the sources in Chapters 20-30! However, you are asked to quote from and cite at least three (3) different primary sources from The American Yawp Reader as evidence.
? Think About It. History gives us a lot to think about.
? Analyze the History. Write an essay in response to the following questions:
Identify a particular era, movement, event or idea in U.S. history since 1920 that has a direct impact on American life in 2021 and is a clear expression of people participating in democracy. Describe the topic, then explain how this era, movement, event or idea is relevant to democracy today. You must refer to concrete examples and rely on specific historical evidence to make your case. Support your argument with at least three (3) primary source documents from The American Yawp Reader (Chaps 20-30).
Your essay should be between 3 and 5 pages (~750-1250 words), double-spaced, with Times New Roman 12-point font [which is the font you are now reading]. Your citations can be Chicago, MLA or APA or whatever citation style you are most comfortable using. 2) Be sure to provide concrete historical examples from The American Yawp. 3) Be sure to quote and analyze at least three (3) primary sources from American Yawp Reader 4) Please respond to the questions in the prompt by removing yourself from the essay—avoid all references to the first person (I, me)—and allow the history (and especially the primary source documents) to speak as evidence.

Start with Historical Thinking Essay #2. You will use Historical Thinking Essay #2 and the three (3) primary sources from The American Yawp Reader that you chose as evidence for the foundation of your digital history project.
Identify more evidence. In addition to the three (3) primary sources that you chose to analyze for Historical Thinking Essay #2, identify three (3) more sources—historical documents, images, photographs or maps—to enhance your digital project. The sources can be from The American Yawp or they can be found online. Just be sure to verify that the sources are legitimate.
Create an account in Story Map Cascade. Story Map Cascade is a clever digital platform application that allows you to present text and images in multimedia presentation format. There are two versions of this web-based platform—Classic Story Maps and New ArcGIS Story Maps. You are invited to use either—both are free. Simply create account).
