INTRODUCTION OF SPEECH.
- Attention grabber:The amount of plastic litter in the oceans is so immense that it has been called the “7th continent”. At this pace, there will be more plastics than fish in the year 2050. Is pollution by plastics a major threat to our continent and our oceans?
- Credibility:I have a keen interest in the cause of plastic pollution and engineered mechanisms to salvage the already polluted ecosystem including prevention of further pollution by plastics.
- Motivation:I am assuming that none of you will argue that pollution of the environment by plastic is at a peak. Because most of the substances we encounter have plastic substances, cups plates to cars. an increase in plastic pollution increases our chances of having a terrible world where plastics will be all over our environment.
- Thesis statement: plastic pollution is at a prime level, it has tragic outcomes therefore controlled measures should be taken to reduce and stop further pollution.
- Main points forecast: In this speech, I will show the danger posed by plastic pollutions and lasting solutions to plastic pollution.
First I will like to tell you the effects of plastic waste.
BODY OF SPEECH.
- Problem:plastic waste causes pollution of the environment with health risks on humans and animals. Plastics degrade for a long period. This could mean a plastic bag thrown in the 1950s could still be. A lot of plastic bags get dumped each day.
- This plastic contains compounds that are ingested. Among the ingested substance are possibly harmful and can amass in the body. Plastic bags inhibit photosynthesis eventually causing low growth in plants especially crops. (Alassali et al., 2019).
- nets and plastic bags trap animals this causes suffocation, and death in mammals, turtles, and birds. Another subsequent problem is the ingestion of plastics. Once ingested it run through the entire food chain of the ecosystem in the oceans. (Trotter et al., 2019).
- Plastic waste has a high chance of causing harm to the health of humans. It is evident that exposure and ingestion of plastics into the human body could be carcinogenic, and could cause impaired unity, birth defects, etc. (Horejs, 2020)
Then here comes the solution.
- Solution: the solution underlies the main point of education; people will act to it when they have access to the information discussed below.
- The solution to plastic pollution is to lessen plastic use. This involves a change of habits, avoiding their use, and using it when it is really necessary. (Ilyas et al., 2018).
- Reusing plastic. Plastic is highly imperishable. So a lot of plastic materials can be reused or switched to suit a different use or purpose. It is prudent that before throwing plastics, a consideration of reusing them be employed. (Ilyas et al., 2018)
- Recycle plastic. This is a collection of plastic waste and reprocessing them to different new products. An example is making building blocks out of plastics. This reduces plastics in the environment. (Ball, 2020).
These solutions have a great benefit discussed below.
