This plan should include the title of the position, certifications required for the position, annual or yearly continuing education (or higher education required for the position), and any refresher or annual training. Also, include an estimated timeline for the completion of each requirement. How would firefighters on the engine company have to work this training program around their other traditional duties?
If you work in the occupational safety field, please also create the education and certification plan for these positions in the occupational safety field including their annual safety field specialty training or emphasis. How would a safety specialist balance the typical safety field education requirements and continuing education with these additional training requirements? Your journal entry must be at least 200 words in length. No references or citations are necessary.
Question 4
For this assignment, you will compose an essay consisting of at least three pages, not counting the cover page or reference page. The paper will consist of two parts.
In the first part of your paper, which must be at least two pages in length, you will describe the characteristics and goals of community risk reduction programs and how these programs function within fire prevention programs.
The second part is summarizing an interview, which must be at least one page in length. Using the interview questions you established in Unit II, interview a safety or fire prevention expert regarding his or her role in a public or private fire prevention organization. You should include who he or she works with in other public or private organizations that serve a fire prevention mission and what his or her responsibilities are. Your questions should have also allowed you to gather information concerning the functions of a fire prevention division, inspection practices and procedures, the standards for professional qualification for personnel within fire prevention, and professional development opportunities for fire prevention personnel.
The individual you interview should be someone outside your field. For example, if you are a firefighter, your interview should be with an occupational safety and health expert. If you are an occupational safety and health professional, your interview should with a fire prevention inspector or fire marshal. Use a local contact that you may work with in the opposite career field. As an absolute last resort, you may use a classmate as your interview subject if you cannot meet the requirements any other way.
Your essay should be written using APA formatting and should utilize at least two references, one of which can be your textbook. All sources used should be citied and referenced using proper APA formatting.
