Because this is a collaborative assignment, each student will be placed in a group (see above). The team will separately research the specified project and collect primary facts such as the development’s history, cost, size, and dates, before meeting as a group for discussion and a site visit. The team will evaluate secondary markets within the development or surrounding context throughout the discussion phase. What are their results? If it is proposed, make a list of the project’s projected benefits, such as activities, locations, or other events that could have an economic value and why they would be beneficial. Use what you’ve learned so far in this course to figure out how they’ll be funded. If there is any worth, what is it?
Bring your research to class to discuss with coworkers and become familiar with the project’s history (from the inception to the present, as the timing is critical). All materials can be unformatted (unformatted materials or photos, hand notes, and web links), but disseminate the facts by using simple bullet points in your notes so you can communicate this information and your opinion to your team and, if selected, the entire class. Bring multiple copies of your research to class for your teammates – this is required. The lecturer will view the material for credit in class rather than collecting it in class. You and your team will use it in Task 2.
Facts to collect at a minimum:
Building (Square Feet) and Site Dimensions (Acres)
Value(s) of the Land: (Last Sale Price and Market Price)
Aerial Map of Google Earth, County Parcel Map, or Site Plan
Images from the Project (concept or surrounding projects)
List any other initiatives, product kinds, or locations that have been impacted by the development’s positive or bad impact.
Newspaper articles on the topic that demonstrate a history of economic influence.
Your fact-based assessment of the project’s positive and negative effects on the community.
Make a lot of photocopies for your colleagues.
Timeline for the projectEach team member will have access to the same data, accompanying maps, and photographs. This is the study. However, because you will be required to take a viewpoint on the project, summaries may be distinctive. Either for or against the project. Each student will submit their individual assignment, with the exception of duplication and group contribution.
Include the following concepts/answer the following questions:
