Part 1. Identity capital
Identity capital can be defined as the things that we do to invest in ourselves. The climatic point of identity capital is what the individual will become after they are become fully developed human beings after a long period of investing in themselves. It includes the summation of the people we hang out with, daily activities, partners, and personal care. The factors add up to bring an image of the individual that they offer to the employers, friends, and family.
My current identity capital in the summation of all my education, social traits and working experiences. All through my life, I have always been working to acquire knowledge both in my field of study and other areas of interest. Moreover, I have participated in numerous volunteer community projects which have taught me the benefits of giving back to the society.
The experience was the loss of an aunt through a road accident. I have planned to visit her for several years and I always postponed the visit. Sometimes, I would postpone the visits because I was too lazy to leave my bed during the weekends yet I was not busy. Finally, the weekend I had left the house to visit her place, I got the sad news of her demise.
The experience taught me to avoid procrastination. I also learned that it is important to complete the goals you set in a particular time frame that you meant to do them. Finally, I have learned to make time for my friends and family members to discuss the different aspects of my life which include career goals and academics among others.
Currently, I usually avoid procrastination especially with matters concerning the family and my career path. To avoid procrastination, I usually divide my tasks into small portions that can be easily manageable. Moreover, I being my day with the hardest tasks leaving the easy ones for later on in the day and this reduces the chances of avoiding to them. I also visit my family members on most of the weekends and during this time I discuss with them by academic performance, and how to improve on the different aspects of my life.
Accordingly, a visit to a foster home has changed my way of thinking. There are many children being raised away from their homes. A majority of them do not even know of their real parents and they still lead normal lives.
The experience taught me not to take any of the privileges in life for granted. The fact that I can be enrolled in college even though I might sometimes struggle with academics should be an encouragement for me to work harder and strive to make the world a better place.
Nowadays, I struggle to work hard despite the many day to day challenges that may arise. Accordingly, I always try to avoid complaining about things that seem to be wrong in the workplace or in school. Instead, I work towards finding solutions to problems around me. I willing fully choose to be optimistic rather than pessimistic.
Pusillanimous is the state in which an individual lacks the virtues of courage and resolution and it is marked by contemptible timidity. A person is said to be pusillanimous if they carry themselves around with a cowardly spirit.
The best plan to avoid being cowardly in daily life is to identify the things that might affect your courage and to work on them. After identification of the reasons that might affect your courage, it is important to practice overcoming the things on a daily basis and with time they no longer affect your courage.
The growth mindset is a concept in which people believe that the most basic abilities in their lives can be developed through hard work and dedication. The concept postulates that having brains and talent is only a starting point and an individual should develop some form of resilience that will lead to great accomplishment.
The areas in my life that I need an effort to improve include physical fitness and social interactions. Physical fitness is crucial to optimal performance in daily activities yet it is one aspect of my life that I have always ignored for a long time. The social part of my life is also another part that needs improvement. I feel the need to meet people from different cultures and ethnicities to learn about their way of life and their experiences which will enable me to be a better person in my career as it will improve my identity capital.
The plan for joining more distinct social groups is to join social clubs in which the members do not belong the same career that I take. Additionally, I will strive to meet people from different cultures and religions to hear about their view of life and what their beliefs entail.
The plan for developing weak ties is to speak to mentors who have been in the same position in the past and to take their advice about what should be done in such a situation. Moreover, I would be committed to implementing the solutions offered by the mentors since practice makes perfect.
The plan for finding new experiences is to travel to different areas of the world. Meeting new people from different parts of the world and who belong to different races and cultures. People from different parts of the world all have different experiences and learning about their way of life will help me find new experiences.
I intend to engage in community development projects such as tree planting and other volunteer work. Such projects enable you to gain insights of the lives of other people and to know some of the mistakes that people make in the world and how you should avoid them.
Part 2: CRAMPERs (8 points each)
The point in the story of Chris Langan and Robert Oppenheimer explains the view of the world about success and failure. The two individuals had a similar mindset when it comes to education and they had to explain their cases to the authorities. The common point is that both of them were geniuses but they never got the help they required when it came to matters concerning education.
CRAMPERS had an impact on the lives of Langan and Oppenheimer in that both of them failed in their different sectors because they did not receive help in their college life.
Ignorance has had a negative impact on my path to success. In many situations that I have been in, I have failed to be successful because of the lack of knowledge. To correct this, I intend to always accept when I do not have information in a particular area but strive to learn about how the particular things involve work.
The CRAMPERs I can introduce in my life is savviness and practical knowledge. It is vital to portray shrewdness on a day to day basis in the work environment or even in academic life to be successful. This includes the practice of employing common sense as well as good judgment to deal with the issues that arise from time to time.
