Experimental Methods in Psychology Study Essay
The validation of a research study is important because it allow us to make sure that the conclusion drawn for the research can be properly applied in future research and to make sure the result is accurate. Validity and reliability are important requirement that ensure the integrity and quality of and measurement instruments. (Mohajan, 2017). Internal validity is weather the results due for the variables are measures or manipulated. In John case that his group perform better do not make him the best teacher there are many things to consider determining he is the best teacher. John is just considering that his ability to teach is the primary variable that influence the student performance. To prove that he is the best teacher there are many things that need to be analyzes in the two classrooms for example were the test was performed, if both groups take the test in the same condition maybe Drew group classroom have more distraction and noises that make hard to concentrate for students. Another thing to consider will be the time of the day is John took the test at 9:00 am while Drew test was schedule for 3:00 pm, another thing to consider is that maybe Drew class have two test the same day and this make harder for them to concentrate in one subject because their must share study time. a broad range of factor need to be considered before jumping to conclusion that the most important variable of the study if the teacher’s role to get positive result.
When study have high internal validity means that can be apply or generalize beyond the data collection setting it means other people, other places, and times. The situation explains in the assignment have external validity. The use if this parameter to measure if the professor is good or bad based only on the performance of the test will be an unfair qualification. For this research to be applicable to larger scale need to have time for the researcher to consider how externalities at the school could impact the research and find a way to reduce the impact as much as possible.
When experiments are taken in a control environment (laboratory) the result can be more accurate because the research have time to plan the environment and can be more control and they can manipulate the variables, this makes the experiment easy to replicate and allow to establish cause and effect relationship. (Mcleod, 2012).
If John will want to do research the information that he is presenting would be inaccurately, because it will be based on a random test at school and just based in the John idea do not have statistical significance and did not measure all the variables that have influences on the study.
