Order ID 53563633773 Type Essay Writer Level Masters Style APA Sources/References 4 Perfect Number of Pages to Order 5-10 Pages Description/Paper Instructions
It is a requirement according to professional practice guidelines that when writing a case study that this is only done with the valid consent of the service user, having taken all reasonable steps to ensure that he/she has adequately understood the nature of the case study and its anticipated consequences. There are certain guidelines that you should always try and follow so that the service user has the capacity to provide informed consent without feeling compelled to agree, because of he/her desire to please you as a healthcare worker:
Explain to the service user what a case study is and what it will be used for. Make it clear to the service user that he/she can see the report if so wish and that the final report will contain no name or identifying details.
Emphasise to the service user that whether he/she agrees to give consent that this will in no way affect the treatment he/she receives from you or indeed your relationship with him/her.
In the case that you are intending to do a case report on a child or adult who is not able to give valid consent, you must establish who has legal authority to give consent and seek consent from that person.
Consent should always be given in writing, use the consent form for this purpose (Appendix consent form).
Ideally, the service user should be provided with a written account of what the case study is, who will have access to it, the purpose it is intended for and what will happen to it once it has served its purpose.
The service user should always be given enough opportunity to consider the implications of giving consent, prior to doing so.
Take all reasonable steps to safeguard the security of the service user case study report.
You must destroy material once it has been used for the task that the service user has given consent for.
If you decide to use the service user case study for another purpose (i.e. publication), then the service user must be informed again, and written consent given once again.Case study
