PART 1: answer discussion question
1-2 PARAGRAPHS ONLY
Discussion Question:
” Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) or Bring Your Own Technology (BYOT)” Please respond to the following:
- With the proliferation of smart phones and intelligent computing tablets such as the iPad, enterprises are increasingly faced with employees who want to bring their own devices and connect to enterprise systems. Determine whether or not employers should allow this type of connectivity to enterprise systems. Support your reasoning with three examples.
PART 2:
1-2 PARAGRAPHS ONLY
RESPOND TO A STUDENT POST (PICK 1):
- Myra Hyman:
Hello Class and Professor,
There are risk involved if the employer decides to allow BYOD to connect to their enterprise systems:
- Employees decide to leave the company hurriedly; the employer may not have time to wipe the employer device clean of companies secured information.
- To access their devices on unsecured Wi-Fi, (like at airports and train stations); the results could lead to hackers easily access the companies information.
- What if the employee loses the device? An unwanted third party will gain valuable information from the devices.
To implement BYOD for the employees, make sure to develop a security plan, and incorporate some form of an insurance policy for the company and the employees.
- Edward Whiten:
While it may seem like a good idea to let people bring their own devices to work with enterprise systems, there are actually quite a few risks if a company were to allow that. The first one that rings true is security; allowing employees access to sensitive company information and data can lead to important files being stolen or even viruses and malware to wind up infecting and harming the company systems. The next problem would be trying to support so many various devices on the company network. While some devices would have no problem being compatible with the system, there are also others that would not, and it would be more costly to try and support so many different devices. Third, most people tend to have more than one kind of personal device that they use, and it would be difficult for the company network to be stable and always handle all the network traffic that would be caused from so many different devices.
- Sharon King:
Hi Professor and Classmates,
I don’t think that employees should be allowed to bring their own devices to work. First, security is an issue because the employee will have access to sensitive material on their personal devices. For example, if they use a personal devices in a public place it’s a possibility that they can be hacked and sensitive material will be seen. The best plan for this would be for companies to provide employees with company owned devices that can monitor their activity. Secondly, the capacity of the business may not be equipped to support personal devices. An example would be that they would have to have IT staff to update the personal devices for use at work. Third, compatibility may be an issue because some of the business applications aren’t designed for small screens like on smart phones.

- Matthew Crouse:
In this type of area and other level that is on the BYOD. You can see that this or how this can make this more and or less then what is needed like to say that employees business would have to say that this would have to me more of a testing area as this is sometime correct now I would like to say that in this areas there are many places that would need more tasks that would need to be corrected. Now in the long-term affect like to say that this would have to be issue as this is not always correct in this line of area as the user will not understand that this is not the correct device for this issue. As this would need to add to a new brand as you are correcting the data. Most of the time the user would need to upgrade to a new device now in the long-term effect of this device their area. A user can bring an old device to the network if this will work correctly for the issue at hand. But in the long term if this device is not working correctly then you would need to add new device to the network. If this is a company grandfather into the network then this would be ok and most likely able to complete the level that are need for this cool new device.
