An Inconvenient Truth
The central them {M: spelling} of the {U: omit article} An Inconvenient Truth {M: italics for titles of long works} is based on the effects of climate change which is caused by natural and human activities. The speech is based on the impacts human activities have on the climate and economic activities. The human activities outlined can be controlled to minimize the impact of climatic changes and lower emission of greenhouse gases. To mitigate the impacts of changes in climate conditions, it is the responsibility of the stakeholders to spread information on the impacts of changes in climate(Falkowski et al.,2000). An initiative duped go green {M: quotes} has been adopted to support mitigation of climate change effects. The go green initiative is recalling people to minimize the use of paper on printing only the most important messages. This would reduce the number of trees cut to manufacture papers which would in turn help increase forest cover. An increase in tree cover would {U: missing word} in increasing the consumption of greenhouse gases and make climate a self-sustaining system. The message has been systematically presented from the meaning of climate change, the cause and the effects of changes in climatic conditions. The nature of the presentation makes it possible to conceptualize the importance of understanding climate change and possible measures to minimize its effects.
Climate Variability
The changing conditions of the climate from one state to the other in either temporal or special scale {U: fragment} (Easterling, &Wehner, 2009). The climatic changes are associated with various causes {M: comma} and the perceived change is dependent on time. For example, before the industrial revolution which took place in the 1700s, climate change was associated with changes in natural phenomena such as natural changes in greenhouse gases, solar energy changes, and volcanic eruptions. Climate change has been categorized as both local and global because greenhouse gases emission from one area affects both local and global climate. The change in climate would not happen in a specific locality but global due to emissions from different parts of the world. From the video, Al Gore used Greenland Islands to explain how changes in climate from one part of the world would substantially affect the entire world (Fagan, 2004). Due to the increase in human activities in Greenland, temperatures have been rising to cause the melting of Ice {M: no capital} . As a result, there is a possible submergence of the Islands, which would affect not only Greenland Island but the entire world.
