PART I: SHORT RESPONSE
Question 1
According to Peak (2012), police stress arises comes from diverse perspectives such as monthly and daily shift rotation as well as alterations of the body rhythm which can cause substantial stress in a police officer. Stress can have a major impact on an officer’s work such as physical ability. External stress which ranges from dealing with notorious and bad scene of crime they have witnessed can have impact on them especially when in a crime scene.
In addition, a police officer under stress can have difficulty in dealing with notorious gangs that have raided almost every major town across the globe. Lastly, Peak (2012) argues that stress can affect not only an officer’s physical disorder but emotional which makes them less productive in the line of duty.

Stressors according to Peak’s over thirty years of academic and community policing are inevitable in the line of duty of a police officer. According to research by Peak (2012), six stressors originating both internally and externally to the police organization include distress of abrupt and monthly shift changes as required by law enforcement agencies. According to this research, police officers endure substantial challenges that cause them stress due to unanticipated working hours as well as conditions and this has been identified as a leading cause of stress in police officers. Secondly, Peak argues that inability to have enough feedback in decisions making is another major cause of stress in America’s policing.
Thirdly, it has been identified that there are interdepartmental problems which are often caused by internal politics promotions, as well as favoritism. Fourth stress element includes constant threats by superiors from police department which are subjected to threaten an officer’s positive self-image.
