2nd question (1 page and a half) Read “Anti-Black Attitudes Threaten Health Equity” for more information (online). The authors conduct an experiment to explore if implicit racism may be used to explain opposition to the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Explain what the authors mean by “implicit” racism. Why do the authors believe that racism played a role in some political resistance to the Affordable Care Act? What did the authors claim to have discovered as a result of their statistical study that appeared to be significant? Do you think the authors did a good job of persuading you?
Question three (1 page and a half) Discrimination is a hot topic these days. Aside from the Black Lives Matter movement, racial relations have received attention on a number of college campuses. We’ll look at college enrolment by race, ethnicity, and gender in this section. Find the percentages of white, black, Hispanic, and Asian students, as well as the proportions of female and male enrollments, at the following universities: California State University Los Angeles, Yale, University of California Berkeley, University of Southern California, and University of Alabama. Make your own table to display your information.
