Discussion Paper on Data Sampling Methods and Strategic Decision Making
Perform data mining on two Excel spreadsheets. Prepare a 4-5-page report detailing the findings, including whether datasets accurately reflect performance, the use of data sampling methods in strategic decision-making, and conclusions and recommendations for enhancing patient service and staff performance. Include the raw data analysis in Excel data analysis tables in the report.
INTRODUCTION
Data mining is a statistical analysis technique for extracting information from data. A data analyst starts with raw data, organizes it, rearranges it, and then looks for patterns. The analyst can then turn the data into actionable information after recognizing the patterns. You will undertake data mining operations and apply the results to various uses in health care information settings in this evaluation.
PROFICIENCY DEMONSTRATION
You will demonstrate your proficiency in the course competencies by successfully completing this assessment using the following assessment scoring guide criteria:
Competency 3: Apply data analysis skills to ensure the integrity and quality of health data.
Analyze a sample of data.
Demonstrate how to use data sampling and data mining to make strategic decisions.
Recommend improvements to the quality of care based on statistical analysis.
Competency 4: Analyze healthcare data using statistical methodologies.
Organize unprocessed data.
Carry out data mining tasks.
Competency 5: Support health care data analytics by communicating in a professional manner.
Create a professional paper that is clear, well-organized, and devoid of grammar, spelling, and punctuation problems.
Citations and references should be formatted according to the APA style and formatting guidelines.
PREPARATION
This assessment will need you to work with datasets in Excel spreadsheets. Right now, you can download and examine the following datasets:
Clinic Performance 2017 [XLSX] Dataset 1
Nursing Performance 2016 [XLSX] Dataset 2.
INSTRUCTIONS
You’ve been assigned to a project involving customer satisfaction and nursing staff performance as a Vila Health data analyst. You’ll look at two different datasets. One is about clinic performance, specifically patient wait times and the length of office visits. The other set of data concerns nurse performance. You will write a report for the clinic’s physicians based on your study of these two datasets.
Clinic Performance (Dataset 1)
This first dataset offers raw data on clinic performance from the standpoint of customer service. First, use Excel data analysis tables to arrange and evaluate the raw data. These tables will be included in your report. Prepare a report on Dataset 1. Include the following headings and address the bullets after each heading:
The Clinic’s Performance Is Accurately Represented.
Explain whether the sample is representative of clinic performance, noting any differences or patterns.
Methods of Data Sampling and Strategic Decision Making
Explain how to make strategic decisions using data sampling strategies.
Clinic Physicians and Customer Service: Conclusions and Recommendations
Make judgments regarding the clinic’s physicians and customer service.
Based on your findings, make two recommendations for improving patient service.
Performance of Nursing Staff (Dataset 2)
Dataset 2 contains information on the performance of nursing staff on two tasks. In the last few months, the productivity of nursing personnel at one Vila Health facility has decreased. Data mining techniques can be used to determine how nursing personnel performed when performing Tasks 1 and 2 using the Nursing Data Worksheet and the Pivot Table Report, both found in Dataset 2 Nursing Performance 2016. Using Excel data analysis tables, organize and analyze the raw data. These tables will be included in your report. Keep an eye out for filters. Make sure to look at data from different years. Include all of the following in your report: Using Data Mining Techniques to Assess Nursing Staff Task Performance
Explain how each of these data mining approaches can be used to assess the effectiveness of nursing staff:
Algorithms based on genetics.
Neural networks are a type of computer network.
Modeling that predicts the future.
Induction of rules.
Trees of decision.
K stands for “nearest neighbor.”
Include examples of each data mining technique’s application to nursing data.
Strategic Decision Making and Data Mining
Explain how data mining is used in strategic decision-making.
Nursing Staff Performance: Conclusions and Recommendations
Draw inferences based on nursing task performance.
Make two suggestions for how to improve nursing performance.
Conclusion
Summarize the results of your two datasets analysis. Draw conclusions about how the data from the different databases might be related. What effect might physician performance have on nursing tasks, for example? What’s the link between customer happiness and nurse work performance, for example?
REQUIREMENTS ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Data analysis tables from Excel are included on the Word page.
Four to five double-spaced pages are required.
12-point Times New Roman font.
Citations and references should be formatted and styled according to the APA guidelines.
Writing: Produce a professional work that is clear, well-organized, and free of grammatical, punctuation, and spelling problems.
