Moral Foundations Assignment Find 3 quotes from Defense of Socrates, pages 16-33, and pages 42-44 from Phaedo, that you believe are ethical, moral, or philosophical in general, then write them down separately and explain in a paragraph for each quote why you think these quotes are philosophical. [Notes: 1. these quotes should be a total of 3 quotes, e.g., 2 from the Apology, and one from the Phaedo, or, 3 from the Apology. 2. If you have difficulty getting this textbook, let me know as soon as possible. ALL ASSIGNMENTS ARE TO BE TYPED, DOUBLE SPACED, WITH YOUR NAME AT THE UPPER LEFT CORNER. It is simply to see what your own instincts, intuitions tell you about what is taking place in those pages that you would say to anyone – or in class discussion, “Now, I think, Socrates is philosophical when he says…”, because…. So – first – you want to read carefully the text, then go back where you took some notes or marked your book and then – state those quotes and your reasons underneath them why you thought the quotes philosophical. Although it is helpful to discuss your quotes with others, these should be your own personal views in your own words about the material, not what others think or write. |
