The outcomes of a Congressional report on the People’s Republic of China will be the subject of the final research essay, which will evaluate the CI analysis utilized in the report to generate the report’s conclusions.
Threat Assessment of the People’s Republic of China (PRC)This Assignment is worth 40% of your overall APUS Final Course Grade for this course.
Sunday at the end of week 8 is the deadline.
This project, in line with undergraduate academic activities, allows students to assess their assimilation of course subjects as well as develop and evaluate their research and critical thinking skills. A combination of course materials and external self-led research (depending on essay[s] selected) drives and tests the assignment, which is then examined and presented in essay(s) form.
This assignment is a research analysis paper that is roughly five to seven pages long, double-spaced (This page count does not include a title page, abstract (optional), table of contents (optional), bibliography page(s), or Endnotes page(s) (if utilized). The source material should mostly come from self-directed external scholarly article research. In addition, the compulsory reading materials for the course may be used. The content of the paper should be 5 to 7 pages long, and it should be the written outcomes of your research. Topic:The final research essay for this course will examine the findings of Congress’s Cox Committee study on the PRC’s threat. The House of Representatives drafted this report with help from the Intelligence Community (IC) and the Congressional Research Service (CRS). It’s a fantastic piece of counterintelligence analytic software. The whole study can be found in the “Cox Report – US Natl Scty and Mil-Commercial Concerns with PRC – 1999” section under Resources. (As a backup, this report can be found at http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/GPO-CRPT-105hrpt851/content-detail.html from the Government Printing Office.)
Your task begins with a review of the Cox Report (start early because it is lengthy) to determine the descriptive, explanatory, and predictive analytical methodologies employed by the Cox Committee, IC, and CRS to arrive at the report’s conclusions on the PRC’s intelligence threat. Your task is to describe the various analytical approaches that have been applied. Examples from the Cox Report should be utilized to back up your discussion of the procedures used. Finally, a discussion of the policy and operational actions made as a result of this counterintelligence study of the PRC’s threat must be included in your assignment.
The goal of this project is for you to learn how to use counterintelligence analysis.
This course was developed as a follow-on to INTL300 Research Methods, according to the original course creator. As a result, you were expected to bring knowledge of the three analytical methodologies described above from your previous/previous participation in INTL300. If you are unfamiliar with these techniques, I am including a CIA reference document titled “Tradecraft Primer – Structured Analytic Techniques for Improving Intelligence Analysis,” dated April 2009, in the class’ Resources. If you are familiar with the three ways stated above, feel free to use them in the assignment, or any one or combination of methods from this primer.
A title page, citations, and a bibliography are all required for your paper. The Chicago format (http://www.apus.edu/Online-Library/tutorials/chicago.htm) should be used for your paper.
