complex behavioral patterns in blind service
There are 3 things to do:
12 sources, Annotated Bibliography. each source 125 words
An outline for the paper.
10 pages paper.
Remind: using below topic I provide:
Overview:
Using the topic I provide:
I need an outline.
read the research paper example analysis.
read the rubric, covering each points.
reading the final research paper guidelines.
at least 6 of the sources must be scholarly.
at least 2 of the sources from other media such as newspaper articles, popular periodicals, government documents, published interviews and speeches, studies, surveys, etc.
Important: the topic must be narrow. Do not try to cover everything and be focus.
Choose one topic from below
Proposal One
I would like to research the relationship between intentional action theory and moral responsibility. The exact hypothesis for this study is that ignoring the negative effects of an individual’s decision implies that the person intentionally committed the act.
For instance, a business owner who runs their organization without considering harmful effects to the surrounding
ethics.
Proposal Two
Feedback:
Either of these philosophical/ethical questions would make for a fascinating essay. I’d caution you to be aware of your own tacit presuppositions going into the inquiry: for example, if you are disposed to write off ethical theories that depend on a metaphysic (of course, they all do, in the end), you might be blinded to the logical or practical merits of an explanation of this kind.
Additionally, I find that a serious flaw in most attempted explanations of ethics or morality is that they fail to take into account the “ought” nature of the thing (to reference Mill). So what that “things are this way” or whatever; whence do we derive the inviolable “ought”? And if there is no final “ought,” what is described is not, to my mind, truly an *ethical* system at all, but
really say that a criminal is “wrong,” but only that he is aberrant
and undesirable *to us*.
At any rate, don’t shirk your philosophical duty! Be clear; be concise; support each assertion you make. 🙂
You need to revise the topic according to feedback and doing well in the whole paper. Thank you!
Writing Each Part Respectively.
Part 1: Create an Annotated Bibliography.
Write 12 sources, each source 125 words. (4 pages) plz see the example of annotated bibliography.
1 .—> Your annotated biblography should have a minimum of twelve (12) sources. 2 .—> Of these, at least 6 must be scholarly sources (either peer reviewed journal
articles or academically-sound books—popular interest books or journalism don’t count.
.—> No more than two standalone websites will count toward your total. What do I
mean by “standalone?” Well, if there is an academic journal that happens to publish their issues online, that wouldn’t be considered a “website.” If you have questions, ask.
.—> Each annotation must begin with a correctly-formatted citation of the source.
Then you’ll write a paragraph or two or three (at least 125 but probably not more than 300 word). In this text do the following:
Important
provide a brief summary of the overall argument of the book or article or chapter, then
explain how it is relevant to your paper topic, and how you plan to incorporate it. Look at an example annotation.
Part 2: Craft a thorough, hierarchical, outline.
–> I am not requiring a specific format for your outline, because I think “shaping” is
a crucial step in the writing process, and I want you to find a way to do it that makes sense to you.
–> However, your outline should be “hierarchical,” which means that it should show:
- a) which points in your paper are more general and which are more specific, and which of the latter are govered by which of the And b), it should show what order the points will be presented in.
–> When you are drafting your paper, there will be room for some flexibility, but in creating your outline, make sure you construct the sturdiest structure possible. Do your
thinking about argument/flow/concepts/support, etc. now, while you’re shaping. Then when you go to fill out the outline with prose, it will go much more smoothly, and your final product will be much more coherent.
–> Finally, remember that this is a thorough outline. Mentioning what sources you’ll be using
when, and sub-arguments, etc
Overall essay outline may look like this:
Introduction—thesis: Television is a better medium because it allows for more in-depth character development, can build suspense longer, and can gather fan input
as a program unfolds. II Body:
Supporting paragraphs:
(Topic sentences): Because television is serialized and not restricted to being under three hours or so, characters have time to develop into complex, interesting people who show a lot of depth. As a season or more unfolds, the audience watches a character encounter many different events and people, and they can witness a character’s growth.
(Evidence) The Office example
(Evidence) Film’s length example
(Topic sentence): The extended length of television shows, as well as their episodic form, also helps build suspense.
(Evidence): The Walking Dead example
(Evidence) How I Met Your Mother example
(Topic sentence): Fan input can help address possible problems in storytelling or characters.
(Evidence): In Lost, creators severely reduced the time of two of the characters, and eventually even killed them off, after fans had such a negative reaction to them.
(Evidence): “Shipping,” which means fans who obsess over a possible romantic relationship between two characters, helps creators know which relationships spark interest for fans, and which are not working;
consequently, they can build romantic relationships that seem more exciting.
One Counterargument paragraph:
Conclusion: Wrap up points by synthesizing (what does all this mean?), not just summarizing (telling me what you already have). Answer the so what question:
So what do I do know? So what does this all matter? Example: “Television is often thought of as a lesser, more temporal medium than film. Good films often seem to last and to speak to future generations more than television does.
However, with the gradual growth in quality of television, television may soon be seen in a new light, so that we may see Intro to Television classes just as often as we see Intro to Film classes. Television is thus on its way to being not just a half hour escape, but an art form in its own right.”
Part 3: research paper 10 pages
Read the example first guidelines:
Purpose and Audience: This project is a thoroughly researched, thesis-driven, argumentative essay that demonstrates competence in both research and composition. The audience is a diverse group of people, most of whom know relatively little about the topic and are neutral or slightly skeptical of your position.
Topic:The topic should be an issue that is a subject of current and past debate within an academic or professional community. You must be able to research the topic in both scholarly books and current, peer-reviewed periodicals. The topic should also be limited to a manageable focus such that the paper can adequately discuss every major aspect of the issue in detail and fairly consider the major opinions on the topic within a coherent essay. The thesis should be debatable on logical or factual grounds and should not rely heavily on matters of faith or mere preference. While every potential topic will be somewhat controversial, it should not be
inflammatory or offensive to a mature and intelligent readership. Finally, your topic must be approved by the instructor.
Content: This essay must be a thesis-driven argument that uses a variety of authoritative sources to defend a clear stance on a specific issue. The essay’s title should be engaging and informative, and the essay should have an identifiable introduction, body, and conclusion.
The Introduction should elicit the reader’s attention and provide necessary background information on the topic, should provide a focus for the paper, and should state a clear and precise thesis. The introduction may be several paragraphs long.
– The Body of the essay should demonstrate a thorough understanding of the topic and its major parts. It should employ sound reasoning as it defends the thesis through logical argumentation and presentation of sound evidence. It should contain no material that is not directly relevant to the thesis. Explanations should be detailed and coherent and should avoid vague or generalized assertions. Examples, illustrations, and supporting detail should be used frequently and appropriately to demonstrate the validity of the thesis. The essay should also present criticisms of the thesis fairly, and it should address such criticisms rationally and appropriately. You may integrate any portion of your Proposal and Annotated Bibliography into this essay.
The Conclusion should bring adequate closure to the paper. While it should reemphasize the thesis, it should also avoid excessive repetition of previous points.
Organization: This essay can be organized in a number of ways, but it should be organized in a manner that best fits the essay’s content. Regardless of the particular organizational pattern chosen, the essay should employ effective rhetorical strategies, logical organization and progression of thought, clear and smooth transitions, and coherent and developed paragraphs. At some point, the essay must address possible objections to its thesis, but the exact place of such rebuttals in the essay will depend on the organizational pattern chosen.
Important :
Sources: This essay must use and cite a minimum of eight sources. At least six of the sources must be
scholarly. In addition, the essay may cite sources from other media such as newspaper articles,
popular periodicals, government documents, publishedinterviewsand speeches, studies, surveys, etc.
All quotations must be quoted exactly and attributed to the proper source. Quotations should be smoothly integrated into the paper and should also be explained adequately. The essay may not use more than four block quotations and may not use more than 750 total words (about two and a half double-spaced pages) of quoted material.
Documentation: MLA citation must be used correctly and consistently throughout the essay and the Works Cited or Bibliography page. Sources, both quotations and paraphrases, must be cited correctly in the text with parenthetical citations, and every in-text citation must give correct information. The works cited page must be arranged alphabetically by authors’ last names and must give full bibliographic information for each source. The Works Cited or Bibliography page should list only those works that are actually cited in the text, and every citation in the text must clearly refer to a citation on the works cited page.
Technicalities: This essay must be at least ten (10) double-spaced pages long, but should not exceed twelve
(12) pages. Do not use a title page. Your Works Cited or Bibliography does not count toward the page count. Your font should be Times New Roman. No funny business with spaces, etc.
Further Directions and Reminders: Like all the essays we have done thus far, this essay should not be entirely derivative of your sources; rather, it should combine your own thinking and argumentation with that of outside sources. The thesis should be your own, and sources should be used to support your thesis. You should use sources primarily to provide factual information or to offer a unique viewpoints and profound statements from specific authors. In no case should you use sources as “padding” to make the essay longer. Also, you
should remember that the research process will take a considerable amount of time to complete because you will have to know as much as possible about the research topic. If the essay demonstrates noticeable ignorance of important aspects of the topic, this may substantially lower the grade. Therefore, you should not procrastinate in doing research for this project, as you will need to be familiar with all important aspects of the topic.
