This essay will ask you to choose two short stories we have read and compare and contrast them in order to make some larger argument about both stories. It will be helpful to choose stories that are either on the surface very alike (and you intend to dig into their differences) or on the surface very different (and you intend to explore their similarities). Any of the stories we have read are fair game as are any of the stories in our literature book we have not read.
Remember that noting how stories are similar/different is not enough. Your essay should answer the “so what?” question. Why do these similarities/differences matter? What larger point are you making about these stories or about fiction?
