Chicken Feet as Korean Food Essay
In Korea, chicken feet are called dakbal and are grilled or sautéed with a coat of spices and hot chili sauce to moderate its strong odor. They are frequently eaten as anju, melas served with wine. With the claws pulled out and cut off at the ankle, chicken feet have soft tendon and collagen filled skin, making for a fibrous, slimy mouthful. There are different ways that the Koreans prepares chicken feet, but the most common ones are stirring frying with hot chicken sauce and grilling. Before stir-frying or grilling the feet are first dipped in hot water to make them easy to peel the first skin. Some Koreans prefer to debone them when stir frying. The claws are also removed since they are not edible. Chicken feet are also used to make broths and soup. Therefore, health benefits of chicken feet are: reduce pain in the joint, facilitate youthful looking, reduce cellulite, weight loss and improve digestion. The collagen in chicken feet helps reduce pain, especially for old people. As a person ages, the cartilages tend to be, to reduce them an individual need to take foods that will supply the body with high amounts of collagen.
