Cities in The U.S Discussion
READ POST BELOW AND RESPOND TO IT IN 1 PARAGRAPH
The period of industrial capitalism and monopoly capitalism had a significant influence on the United States economy. Still, never less the population keeps growing in the cities and areas that are undeveloped. Deindustrialization and globalization had a significant impact on the United State cities, not only the cities but also in a considerable area that is not well developed. During deindustrialization and globalization, the manufacturing job started to subside. The number of people who worked in the factories kept dropping from the year 1900 to 1980.
According to the textbook, employment in manufacturing dropped from 26 to 18 percent in 1980, which means people were giving up on the manufacturing job and getting better jobs in transportation, finance, accounting, wholesale, business repair, insurance, and real estate. The deindustrialization period and globalization period made people understand that more jobs are too just working in the factories.
New employment opportunities increase, people are getting more educated. The textbook states that “since 1970, population growth has been greater for metropolitan areas outside city center rather than inside them, which reverse the traditional urbanization process of concentration,” which means that pollution is growing in the cities and metropolitan areas. People start living in the east, Midwest, and south to the west. African Americans began to return to the southern states, the slave state, in the 1900s. The deindustrialization and globalization period made it possible for America to economically supports a stable urbanized working class. It changed the working force and also the United States economy. Global capitalism dominate changes by changing the work natures and the US economy.
The process of industrialization and globalization are connected to the emergence of the multicentered region. It transformed the way things were back in the 1900s. It connected to the emergence of the multicentered region because central cities are no longer dominant for location choice for manufacturing or corporate headquarters. Most of the suburban areas in many areas in the United States had matured and developed.
In the multicentered part, a lot of stuff was getting legal, like marijuana is legal in 13 states but could be used for medicinal purposes. Job and housing were provided for residents. There was no more such thing as people who lived in the tenement. Children who were under age were no longer allowed to work. This region changed a lot about the United States cities and economy. I find it so fascinating that there is consistently a different type of region and a new region change the cities and the people’s lifestyles will also change.
