One of the changes adopted in nursing today is the introduction of Sevocity in the operating room department that help OR nurses answer questions quickly. The electronic systems create a comprehensive chart on patient outcomes that communicates between three departments (Pre-op, Intra-op and Pacu). Health professionals are able to collect information effortlessly. Therefore, it frees up time for clinicians, and they can offer more attention to patients who need it the most (Tyagi et al., 2019). The data also helps in clinical decision-making. The practitioners understand their weaknesses and strengths. The systems guide them on how to improve patient outcomes.
The systems also protect the nursing practitioners when there is a question on their conduct later on. The new advancements are rapidly changing the nursing profession. The nurses feel the most impact of the changes because there are frontline health workers (Schmidt & Brown, 2017). The data is also critical in coordinating the staff, communications, and workflow. One of the vital advantages of the data is the ability to evaluate the nurse-to-patient ratio. In times of adversity, the patient suffers because they do not receive adequate nursing attention.
With the adoption of Informatics, the bedside role of a nurse in dissemination becomes feeding the devices with the correct information. The function of the system is to analyze the data and deliver it to the authorized individuals for action. Evidence-based practices are a critical component of nursing. Additionally, health informatics is the main source of determining evidence-based practices today (Tyagi et al., 2019). The system analyzes the data collected on patient care and the outcomes. The analysis can reveal how best to treat the condition then, and in the future, the data improves the accuracy and the communication of patient care significantly. The data also points out areas that health practitioners need to advance.

As of recently in my workplace the biggest changes that has affected both families and patients and staff was the hit of the corona virus. With these changes all patients families now required to always wear a mask in the rooms, parents lounge and within the hospital walking areas. As of the NICU only mom and dad and grandparents are allowed in the unit within a 24-hour period, and only 2 guests at a time (a switch out). (Nicklaus Childrens Hospital, 2019) If parents are positive with corona, then they are not allowed in the unit and they work with social services, so they are able to facetime and take pictures of their childs progress. The changes identified would be to help prevent anymore contamination within the unit, especially since it is a clean unit. The changes implemented since last year of 2019 no babies in our unit have been exposed to covid since entrance into the unit, requiring less PPE when working with patients. Although difficult to explain to the parents and families that they are not able to have open access to the patients, families understand how dire the situation is with covid and follow the proper guidelines and procedures that have been implemented. Nurses roles allow the parents to call between the hours of 9am-9pm to get updates on their children. Communication with management and team is agreeable since less access to patients with corona allows for the nurses to worry less about exposure to their families at home.
