ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS FOR REVIEWING AN ARTICLE IN A JOURNAL
OVERVIEW
MBA programs around the country are beginning to push students to improve their writing skills. This is in response to industry demands that graduate schools improve graduate students’ writing skills. At the MBA level, writing should be informative, colorful, and nuanced, with simple terms vs. convoluted ones (especially if used out of context).
Remember the context of the MBA degree while you study the journal articles for this course. A master’s degree in business administration is a practitioner’s degree. The degree indicates that you can think, evaluate, and solve problems, as well as effectively and efficiently communicate solutions to company executives. Your study of the articles’ discussions, their relevance to this course, and the ramifications of each reading assignment will prepare you to speak in this manner.INSTRUCTIONS
You will select one journal article from the course materials for each allotted module. Substitute articles will not be accepted for review. Write a 900-1200 word review of a journal article, excluding the title page and reference page. You must compare and contrast the theoretical model or therapy mentioned in the article to the facts discussed in your textbook for each Journal Article Review. Quotations may make up no more than 20% of any Journal Article Review. The original paper, the course textbook, and one supplementary scholarly work must all be cited and referenced. These components must be included in every Journal Article Review assignment:
Title page Article caption (current APA style) at top of first page of text to identify the article Statement of the author’s goal Background of the issue Application of applicable supply chain management theory Managerial implications of article results (23 paragraphs)
An overview of the topic and its context A list of references (Current APA style)This is the format that students must use for their review.
