Assume you’re interested in Apartheid and have restricted your search to the township of Soweto. If your Travel Guide topic is “Taking a Stand in Soweto,” utilize this article assignment to produce a context paper that looks at the “big picture” of the Soweto township >> When and how was it founded? Who resided in that house? Etc. You should begin by discussing the late-nineteenth-century finding of gold in Johannesburg, as well as the influence of immigration and the mining boom on local inhabitants. You should also explain how Soweto was established in the early twentieth century as a means of establishing separate black settlements. You should also provide context for the township’s concerns against the government and explain how this led to the Soweto Uprising.
