Task and Learning Process
D The task is to identify the core principles of one of the organization theory schools, expressing these principles in your own words, capturing the key ideas in a summary/synthesis and providing a brief yet sharp critique (several key strengths, weaknesses, and limitations).
D This summary of one school is to be applied to a specific organization e.g. different levels of governments (e.g. IRS, CIA, federal/local governments); hospitals, non-profits, universities, NGOs, international originations (e.g. UN, WTO), foreign country governments (e.g. China), etc. You are free to call on web sites or other public sources for the information particular to that organization.
Outcomes
The result of this independent inquiry is to sensitize you to the relation between theory and application deepening the actual organization focus. There are no right or wrong answers the requirement is for synthesis, for critical analysis, and for relevant application.

This essay is designed to enhance your knowledge and application of one school of theories or just one theory that is specifically tailored to your personal interest.
Reading materials:
Your essay is based on the following textbook (uploaded into the system)
Simon, H. A. (1997). Administrative Behavior: A Study of Decision-Making Processes in Administrative Organizations. (4th edition). Free Press.
Objectives
- increase your knowledge of current organization theories with a focus on one school at a time (or one theory at a time)
- increase your knowledge of the application of the target organization theory to a specific industry, field and organization (federal, state, local, military, health care, education, transportation, non-profit, NGOs, etc.)

Note:
- This class is more focusing on public organization rather than business organization. Thus, when application of the target organization theory to a specific industry, field and organization, please use a public one. My interest is more on education related organization. If you can use it, that would be great.
