What concept are you are taking away from this week? Think of this as what topics during the week intrigued you, surprised you or had the most personal relevance to you… and why? I am looking for you to explain why this specific topic resonated with you and how you can connect it to a real-world example.
In the DQs, what post or comment by a classmate did you feel was especially interesting or relevant to your understanding of marketing concepts this week? Why did you feel this way? Again, I am looking for you to explain why this specific post resonated with you. I’d like you to expand the conversation. Perhaps you agree or disagree with their statement – explain why. Maybe it helped you to better understand a concept – explain how. These are just examples.

- A pro of being given the opportunity to sell my product on Amazon and sell directly to consumer will increase my recognition and popularity. Amazon, being the leader in earning and sales, will allow my product to be available to a much larger demographic of people. It would be much harder to reach the same amount of people if I created brick-and-mortar stores.
A con of selling my toasters through Amazon is that I will not receive as much profit selling to an online retailer. Amazon will take a percentage of my profit since I am using their site to sell my product, as well as using their delivery service to deliver my product. Amazon may even try and compete with my company, since they will be in charge of the distribution and have access to profits.
- If I decided to get a job at Amazon, I will have the opportunity to receive several different benefits including life insurance, accident insurance, 401(k) plans, and even financial help. Many non-corporate businesses do not offer these benefits, and these benefits can save me possibly thousands of dollars.
Amazon is notorious for its long shifts and long weeks. There is little flexibility with the work schedules and maybe people are working 40+ hours a week and sometimes 10-12 hours at a time with very little breaks. All of this can cause severe stress and exhaustion. Amazon is also not a unionized workplace, so I am not protected under anyone, and Amazon can almost whatever they want.
- A pro of retail shopping at Amazon is the spectacular variety and speed. Amazon, having so many products on there website, gives me a very high chance of always finding what I am looking for. I will have many of options to chose from, but this allows me to pick the item that works best for me. The search bar makes it incredibly easy to look for anything I need in just a few seconds.
A con of retail shopping at Amazon is that the company is currently only e-commerce. I will not get the chance to test or view my product in person before I make a purchase. I am just purchasing an item based of a picture and my imagination.
- Today, Amazon has a massive influence in the marketing supply chain. Amazon is constantly creating new innovations, such as the new delivery drone, and one-day shipping option. All of these innovations is allowing Amazon to set a standard in supply chain and have little to no competitors to worry about. I believe Amazon will continue to grow and increase its breadth and depth. In the future Amazon will likely create even more astonishing technological innovations that will shape the marketing supply chain.
