Questionnaire on Health and Medicine
What types of data do you require as a present or future health-care administrator to establish the necessity for an HSO improvement initiative? How might this information be used by a health-care administration to propose an HSO improvement initiative?
The health care administrator must understand how to propose improvements that will contribute to successful health care delivery while planning, designing, and implementing improvement efforts in HSOs. However, the health-care administrator must strike a balance between effective business procedures and operations and the HSO’s improved improvement goals. You will begin to develop a distinct skill set necessary for effective health care administration practice as you investigate the ways used by health care administrators to implement improvement efforts in HSOs.
Review Case 3, Where and How to Start? in Chapter 7 of the text, Managing Health Services Organizations and Systems, for this assignment (page 226). Consider how you might undertake an improvement project within an HSO as a present or future health care administrator. Consider what kinds of factors, resources, and metrics you’ll need to successfully handle the state of a current improvement program within an HSO. Then, to finish the Assignment, go over the Week 2 Case Questions document in this week’s Learning Resources.
The Task (35 pages) is as follows:
Fill in the blanks on the case questions.
Make sure to back up your responses with evidence from the literature.
Study of a case:Assume you’re the CEO of a single HSO, such as a hospital, nursing home, or health maintenance organization. It could be an HSO in your current area or elsewhere, but you need to know some specifics. To establish how you would undertake a strategic assessment, including external and internal environmental analysis, use the strategic management model in figure 9.2 as a guidance.
