Counselor and Cultural Differences Discussion Assignment Paper
Please respond to this post below?
I think that it would be therapeutic for the counselor to find a way to confront the cultural differences that he or she and the client have and address the client’s racist thoughts and attitudes. I don’t think that there can be an honest relationship established or that the counselor will be effective if it is not addressed. I think that it is important to make the client aware that the goal is to help them with the situation/s that brought them to counseling and not to judge him or her as a person. I think that addressing the cultural differences will hopefully lead to the client feeling comfortable enough to share his or her feelings and addressing them without feeling judged.
