In order to successfully undertake a research project, it is important to first formulate a project proposal. This document should clearly and concisely document any previous research in the subject area, explain the reason for undertaking the study and summaries the reasons why the work is of significance.
Task
You will write and submit a full written proposal. Your proposal will be graded on the basis of the guidelines detailed below.
Submission procedure
All students must have their faculty advisor endorse their proposal prior to submission. Please see the attached cover sheet.
All final research proposals and endorsed cover page must be submitted on Moodle through TurnItIn.
- If the Similarity Index is less than or equal to 24 percent, the document will be accepted.
- If the Similarity Index is between 24 and 50 percent, the student will incur a significant
grading penalty of up to 50% depending on the severity of the similarity.
- If the Similarity Index is equal to or greater than 50 percent, the coordinator of PGEG491 will meet with the student within three working days. If it is determined that substantial plagiarism has occurred, the coordinator will inform the student, the student’s advisor, and the department chair. The case will be referred to the Academic Honour Council, which will recommend a sanction to the Provost for final decision.
