In the article, the authors highlights the various ways nurses abuse social media sites to the point of attract public condemnation. The author also highlights how nurses should embrace and make use of ethics while using social media. According to the article, there are various ways social media can be positively used by nurses to benefit the society and note to make fun of the same society. For instance, the author shares a scenario a nurse wearing a gown acts like the patient who is almost out of breathe is acting less and claiming that “we know when y’all are faking” followed by two laughing emojis” (Steers, & Gallups, 2020).
The social media post is said to be among many unethical posts that nurses should avoid since their career does not allow the professionals mocking patients. The author suggests that one constructive way that nurses can use social media for instance in the present time when the world continues suffering from COVID-19 is using social media sites like Tik-Tok to share important information on things that members of public can do to keep safe from contracting the virus. This is to mean social media should be used by nurses to create health awareness and not for other unethical purposes.
