a stoke (Brain Attack)
The phrase “brain attack” was used to raise awareness of time-dependent tissue damage and the need for immediate emergency care, comparable to that of a heart attack. This word may appear in your current literature search.
Please respond to both A and B.
Distinguish between the two primary forms of stroke and their causes.
What are the most common causes of each type of stroke?
What tests would be used to determine each type of stroke? Please elaborate. What is the significance of this?
A 58-year-old woman with right-sided weakness and aphasia reported to the Emergency Department with a 1-hour history. A CT scan of the brain performed immediately after admission came out negative.
Based on the patient’s symptoms, where in the brain is the pathology? Name the precise brain area(s) that will be impacted.
What additional testing would be required to determine the diagnosis of this patient?
What are the indications for using tissue plasminogen activator intravenously? Describe the pathogenesis of the disease.
Discussion Guideline and Rubric for RN-BSNs
Please read the discussion criteria requirements entirely and carefully. For personal use, download and/or print.
Attendance, participation, and topic are all factors in the discussion grade.
Initial Participation
The completion of the course certification, pre-test, and introduction, which must be completed within the first three (3) days of the course, will be used to document first student attendance in each course. A recorded absence will be logged if you do not log into the course and post within the first three days. If a student does not attend during that time range, he or she may be administratively dropped from the course.
Attendance in General
To achieve attendance requirements, students in online courses must post to the discussion boards at least three substantive postings on three different days each week. Students must speak immediately with the course teacher about any circumstances that may cause them to miss class. Failure to meet any of the above standards, as well as failure to post initial discussion responses by Thursday of each week, is considered absence.
Instructors may not allow students to post in advance or after the week’s conclusion without prior clearance due to the nature of some debates. The instructor has the last say on whether or not to forgive absences, decrease grades, or accept late assignments due to unforeseen circumstances. The deadline for all posts is Sunday at 11:59 p.m. ET each week.
Participation:
Attendance is not the same as participation. Course involvement is achieved by discussion board postings and timely submission of tasks, such as quizzes, examinations, and weekly summaries. The instructor will establish the degree of participation and will assess it during the week. There may be additional point deductions.
Content:
In addition to the necessary textbook, initial responses include the use of a scientific nursing journal article to support the student’s personal and the nursing community’s viewpoints. A full-text, peer-reviewed nursing journal article published during the last 5 years is considered “scholarly.” Articles older than 5 years can be used if they are considered “classics,” “foundational to nursing,” or there is a “paucity of current research” on the subject. If earlier articles are used, the student should be prepared to argue why the item was chosen and used as support to the instructor and/or class. Individual experiences with the topic are encouraged to be discussed.
Academic Integrity: When writing discussion comments, students are expected to undertake their own work and properly paraphrase, cite, and reference any content from other sources, including the course text book. Students are urged to review the plagiarism policy at Keiser University as it relates to academic honesty. Students may not reuse posts from prior courses or from other courses in the same course. This is known as self-plagiarism, and it is completely forbidden.
Plagiarism is the purposeful or inadvertent use of another’s words or ideas without proper reference and claim of authorship by the student. Keiser University has a policy that students are responsible for maintaining honesty in all work submitted for credit and any other work assigned by a course instructor. Students may not submit the same work they accomplished in one course to another and receive credit for the same work. Plagiarism must be punished severely since it is a type of theft and dishonesty that interferes with educational goals. The Academic Honesty Policy in the Keiser University Undergraduate Catalog outlines these consequences.
Academic dishonesty or plagiarism will result in a zero grade for the full discussion grade for the week.
