The Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) provides a broad range of health and social services, promoting wellness, self-sufficiency, and a better quality of life for all individuals.

A. The HHSA has 6 different sectors, public health being one of them. The remaining are mental health services for children, adults, and older adults, child welfare and lastly alcohol and drug services. The HHSA takes many approaches to provide its services to the people in the community including operating family resource centers, mental health clinics, and public health centers across the county.

A. As the Intergenerational Coordinator, Selina Brollini helps create opportunities for people of all ages to come together and share their talents, experiences, knowledge, and skills.
B. The Child Welfare Services (CWS) Intergenerational Coordinator serves as overarching CWS IG Coordinator for each region of San Diego County.

1. San Diego County is a leader in IG efforts and supportive in engaging in innovative IG efforts. Since 2002, intergenerational efforts in San Diego County have significantly evolved. During 2002-2014, five Intergenerational Coordinator positions have been created covering the entire County; Central/South Region, East/North Central Region, North/North Inland Region, Child Welfare Services, and Aging & Independence Services
V. Rationale for Choosing
A. I have chosen this professional because I believe the position provides services to the pinnacle of health disparities experienced in our population. Underprivileged, lower socioeconomic statuses, mental health, minors, and in many cases, foster care individuals. This is the area that could most be under served and receive ill funding that should never slip through the cracks, it is necessary and vital to our community.
