In terms of respect, how people respond, how do you speak plays a big role in the majlis. Foucault is also an author who talks about history and the roots of it. It is important to understand the culture of majlis because it comes from an old history that is still going on till now and evolving. We should research how it is before and how it is now. The differences in uses and how majlis came to be todays world.
Majlis plays a major role in the Arabic identity because it is embedded into people households. Most Arabic houses has a majlis and designed like one. It is part of the rule of the Arabic culture to have a majlis. The reason is that history shows majlis dates back to the Islamic ages as one of the interviewers said and themed in different ways. Because some majlis is made for friends, some made for family and some made for serious meetings like sheikhs and rulers. Majlis is universal around the Emirati culture and Arab culture and rules is taught around by fathers or known by families by teaching you when you are a kid. Majlis is separated and not mixed, there are majlis made for men and majlis made for women. But some majlis is mixed when its family meeting each other. Majlis is always accommodated with drinks, coffee and food to make the place much more welcoming, dress code is important, and it has to be traditional especially front of guests. But family members or maybe siblings are not a problem. Most of the times its respectful wearing the Emirati dress code in the majlis. Within the majlis, there is also culture and rules of how the guests are being served, where to sit when there is elders and how to greet people with different ages. Majlis is everywhere in Arabic households and it played a big part of Arab identity and also studying Arabic history. The interviewers all have majlis of their own and their family too, this shows how widespread it is and how important it is.
