However, board-level strategic thinking and governance capacities in this area have lagged behind both technology risks and remedies provided by new developments. Boards play an important role in corporate governance, determining general company behavior and risk appetite. Action on the part of boards entails successfully exercising supervision by asking the correct questions of managers in order to ensure that the boards’ strategic objectives are realized. In the field of cyber resilience, this function is no different. The Forum aspires to encourage productive discussion between boards and the management they entrust with the operation of the firms to whom they owe their fiduciary responsibility by providing the following principles and instruments.’
