Description / paper instructions
An instrument is a tool that you can use to measure a student’s study skills. An instrument can be a test, a survey, or a questionnaire. In Module 1, you conducted a Self-regulation study skills survey at https://goo.gl/m5OFY1 (Links to an external site.). This is an example of instrument to measure study skills. The instrument was developed by Barnard and her colleagues (2009) to measure self-regulation in online and blended learning. Another example is the Learning and Study Skills Inventory (LASSI). LASSI is a comprehensive instrument to measure study skills. Information regarding the LASSI can be found at: https://www.wku.edu/online/documents/lassi_overview.pdf
The World Wide Web is flooded with similar Study Skills Diagnosis instruments, and gimmickry…what I would like for us to do during this week’s online discussion is to ‘search’ cyberspace and find a “Really Good and Useful” instrument that diagnoses study skills, provide a summary of the instrument, tell why you like it, and discuss how the instrument may help you diagnose students’ study skills in your work setting. Google Scholar is a very useful tool when you search for academic resources. I hope the instruments you find will help you write your mid-term assignment. |
